Default Saddle darkened patch - how do I lighten it up?

I just bought this saddle, and it is just the one side that appears to be darker than the rest of the saddle, perhaps someone tried putting neat foot oil on it??? What do you suggest, if anything???

I am interested in your leather care products, especially something that would help lighten up a darkened patch on a saddle.... Please advise and thank you for your time.....

    Leather-Safe Problem Solving Guide-V9 - Vachetta (Naked Vegetable-Tanned Leathers)

With reference to this Vachetta Leather-safe Problem Solving Guide under types of stains, we are looking at the Penetrated Oil and Grease Category and there are 5 steps to a holistic problem solving solution.

    Step 1 – Degreaser-2.2
    Step 2 – Rinse-3.0
    Step 3 – Hydrator-3.3
    Step 4 – Fatliquor-5.0
    Step 5 – Protection-D+ (Scent-D)

Step 1, 2 & 3 complete the stain removal process with help of using tools like the Eraser-4 and horsehair Brush-1. It is only with satisfaction of appearance when dry that this 3 wet cleaning steps ends, otherwise it is to be repeated.

Optional Tannin Treatment to even out the overall appearance of the entire panel; the appearance of this saddle derives its color from the vegetable tanning that tans the leather and it will darkens naturally as it is exposed to sunlight just like our skins that tans. Water from rain may have stain it causing it to have a patchy appearance. This d’Tannin-3.5 helps reduce the contrasting effect of darkening due to pH phenomenon too. If so desired to proceed with this treatment, it is mist spray evenly with the help of the foam brush to control where it need most.

It is again a 5 steps process:

    Step 1 – d’Tannin-3.5
    Step 2 – Rinse-3.0
    Step 3 – Hydrator-3.3
    Step 4 – Fatliquor-5.0
    Step 5 – Protection-D+ (Scent-D)

For a combine degreasing and tannin treatment the sequence of process should be as follows:

    Degreaser-2.2 > Rinse-3.0 > Hydrate-3.3 > d’Tannin-3.5 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Protection-D+

    Practical Procedure:

Preparation, tools, material and protection plastic sheet required.
1] Dry soil removal is done with the horsehair Brush-1 and Eraser-4 to the entire panel.
2] The surrounding panel is seal off with plastic sheets for a carefree rinse dripping or spraying application.
3] White Terry towel is recommended for soil extraction.

1] Shake up the degreaser until it gels up (by action of shake, stop, and shake).
2] Transfer to foam brush for direct application with simultaneously horsehair agitation to the stain area and work feathering it out to the entire panel for an even appearance.
3] Re applies to the stain areas and work with the horsehair brush deep into the stain with towel extraction. Grease stain will emulsify and is to be extracted.

Rinse is spray directly on the stain area and work with horsehair brush with simultaneous towel extraction until the rinse turns clear and until towel shows clean while still wet. The rest of the areas is then go over with rinse and horsehair brush until towel shows clean while wet.

Hydrator-3.3 is a continuous process, with its surfactant it goes deeper into the leather to bring out suspended soiling particulates to the surface. This product cleans the leather internally as the Rinse-3.0 cleans it externally. To bring out penetrated suspended grease, it is the function of the hydrator to bring them out; otherwise, they are still stuck in the leather fibrous system. Laying facial tissue paper as an extension of the leather surface helps to trap wick-up soiling particulates as it surfaces and instead of just depositing on the leather surface it will go through the paper and being trapped for easy peel off instead.
This is the stage where the leather is left to be crispy dry, erased with Eraser-4 for a visual inspection. If the appearance need improved, repeat the above accordingly. When it is good to proceed to the next phase, consider if you would like to have a tannin treatment to lighten up patchy appearance cause by pH phenomenon to the leather from other liquid including rainwater above leather neutral pH of average 4.

Shake up the bottle to dissolve any crystal found at the bottom of the bottle and you are ready to go. Just mist spray evenly over the entire panel and concentrates on the darker areas avoiding drips (blot it up) and let it dry naturally. Inspection and repeat as necessary.

This is spray and brush control accordingly to the entire panel, leave natural dry and repeat when fully absorbed until the leather is fully saturated. This fatliquor replenishing will soften the leather and prevent stiffness. Fatliquor replenished leather softens it with strength; breaking in the leather will also soften the leather but the fiber is partially broken with weakness.

This is a non-stick rub-resistant protection that allows leather transpiration.
