Default Audi Q3 Leather seat water/sun damage

    Dear Roger,

I’ve an issue with leather car seats. Bought the car with damaged seat and not sure for how long it was so.
I would like to know is worth to even try to fix it if yes - your advise would
    be highly appreciated on hows/whats.

    Thank you in advance!

The technical difficulty is to get the Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 system beneath the non-absorbent coatings of the leather. Most of these leather water damages are water that seeps into the stitching holes and moves sidewards. Leather is an amphoteric material and water with neutral to alkalinity will break the hydrogen bond between the leather constituents and the protein fibers. The ridge we see are the displaced leather constituents.

    >>> #3 This part indicated red is very hard:

And one of the main components is the fatliquor (fat and oil), as it leaches out of the protein fibers, the fibers collapse and become stuck together that results in stiffness. When pressure is put on a stiff surface it will crease and crack.

The best way to soften leather is to replenish diminishing fatliquor through evaporation and leaching out in a water damage situation. And this replenishing is either done from the back (suede sides) or through the stitching holes and allows the products to move sidewards (if the leather is non-absorbent from the surface.)
