Default LV Croissant leather handle crack after conditioning with apple leather care.

    Hello!
I bought a vintage bag last week and it came with water spots. It also seemed to never have been conditioned so I researched what to use and was recommended apple leather care. Three days later a crack appeared. I don’t know what to do know to at least keep it from happening elsewhere and also potentially repair the crack. The good thing about the crack is it’s only on one of the leather pieces so the bags integrity is fine I think. Name: B4C18010-E785-4DEF-82D1-767E49FF5234.jpg

    >>> It also seemed to never have been conditioned so I researched what to use and was recommended apple leather care. Three days later a crack appeared.

Always check on the pH value of products when used on Louis Vuitton Vachetta leather. Vachetta leather is very thirsty of “fatliquor” (fat and oil) content in the leather structure that maintains its integrity of suppleness (strength and softness). When the percentage (average 15%) diminished through evaporation or leaching out when an alkaline solution is applied, it becomes brittle and eventually cracks when flexed. The percentage of fatliquor in the leather structure are replenished by Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 system in a continuous “wet-process” in a combination sequence with a leather-safe vachetta cleaning system, that matches the leather soiling condition.

    >>> I don’t know what to do know to at least keep it from happening elsewhere and also potentially repair the crack.

Have to determine if the repair to the crack is for appearance or for strength. And all repairs will have a darkening effect. For example a raw plywood is cracked and no matter how you repair it will see the darkening effect too. Unless it is then painted over, but vachetta leather is naked, unfinished and unpainted. So for appearance, might as well leave it alone, if some degree of strength is still there.

For the care of the entire bag with 2 different material I recommend using this Louis Vuitton
    Vachetta Care Kit-V7
