The above pictures show the difference urine contamination situations, however we can use this Standard Work Flow Sequence as a general guide to decontaminate them holistically.

Besides getting rid of the horrendous odor, we have to bear in mind that the leather structure does not “reverse-tan” to rawhide and that the aesthetic finishes is best to be kept intact whenever possible.

Depending on the severity of the situation, we have to decide which is mandatory and which is optional to achieve our desired result.

    1) Surface Soiling Removal
Soak-up as much liquid as possible with dry absorbent disposal towel.
Use leather Sspatula-6, leather Brush-1 and leather Eraser-4 or nubuck Eraser-5 to remove dried soiling with help of air gun or vacuum cleaner.

    2) Remove the Protein Component of the Contamination.
Use - d’Protein11.0 as per instruction.

    3) Deodorize the Unpleasant Odor.
Use - d’Odor4.5 as per instruction.

    4) Neutralize the Ammonia and the Alkaline Phosphorus Salt from “reverse tanning” the leather.
Use - d’Urine2.1 as per instruction.

    5) General Cleaning.
Use - Cleaner-3.8 as per instruction.

    6) Acidifier Rinsing.
Use - Rinse-3.0 as per instruction.

    7) Inspection for Alkaline Exposure - check for tackiness, stickiness or sliminess when wet.
Use - Acidifier-2.0 as per instruction to a squeaky healthy feel.

    8) Anti-Microbial to Control Odor-causing Bacteria Activities.
Use - d’Bacteria-3.7 as per instruction.

    9) Inspection after Drying.
    Odor Inspection
    Visual Inspection
    Suppleness Inspection

    10) Odor Inspection.
Repeat the above processes as necessary.

    11) Visual Inspection on Light Pastel Colored Leathers - check for Urochrome Yellowing Effect.
Use - d’Tarnish1.3 as per instruction.
Use - d’Yellow6.7 as per instruction.

    12) Suppleness Inspection - as leather is wet and dry again it has the tendency for the fibrils to stick together as the fatliquor diminishes.
Use - Hydrator-3.3 to hydrate the stick together fibers to separate and relax them prior to fatliquoring.
Use - Fatliquor-5.0 to replenish the diminished fatliquor to soften and strengthen the leather structure when dry.
Use - Rinse-3.0 to strengthen the hydrogen bond between the cationic (+ve) protein fibers and the anionic (-ve) fatliquor molecules.

    13) Visual Inspection.
Decide whether the leather finishes need restoration either to its color or its topcoat or both.

    14) Leather sensuous non-stick tactile-feel (buttery, draggy, silky or waxy) conditioning with a classic leather scent to mask the unpleasant odors.
leather Scent-B (buttery) - use for all pigmented and aniline leathers.
leather Scent-D (draggy) - use for Vachetta, Wax pull-up, Bicast and Leather Flooring.
leather Scent-S (silky) - use for standard nubuck.
leather Scent-W (waxy) - use for split suede.
