Default Givenchy Pandora - distressed Pepe sheepskin leather

What would be the best cleaner and conditioner to use on this wrinkled Pepe sheepskin leather? Is there any special technique I should use while cleaning & conditioning so I don’t damage the wrinkled appearance?
Also, would it be possible to dye one of these bags without ruining the wrinkled, distressed look? If yes, what would that process look like?

    >>> Is there any special technique I should use while cleaning & conditioning so I don’t damage the wrinkled appearance?

The cleaning and conditioning process will differentiate what are heat-embossed wrinkles and wrinkles caused by the dryness of their original fat and oil content. The cleaning will not make any difference to the wrinkles, it is the Hydrator-3.3 that will cause the leather to relax off its dried creases and wrinkles. And if no stretching is applied during the Hydrator-3.3 and Fatliquor-5.0 system the wrinkled appearance should remain but the leather softens up.

Aniline Leather Care Kit A3 by Leather Doctor is a restorative and general cleaner, rinse, hydrator, fatliquor, and surface conditioner system for aniline leather.

    People Also Ask:

    What is Aniline leather?

Aniline leather is leather that has dyed through to the reverse suede side with transparent dyestuff. The surface is further dye coated to even out appearance and sealed with a urethane clear gloss topcoat to bring the beauty of the grain surface show through. Micro crazing develops sooner which makes the leather more comfortable in transpiration and a bit more absorbent too.

How to take Good Care of Aniline Leather?

Even if we do not use it, still in the showroom, the leather will still dry up and softness turns to stiffness especially exposed to sunlight, and heat and intensity of color will weaken with sun fading. So periodically, the color intensity needs to be refreshed by activating the dormant dyestuff within the leather structure to resurface; any unnatural wrinkles, creases, or curls will also need hydrating to relax; and the loss of fatliquor conditioning fat and oil through evaporation will need to be replenished too. When leather is put in use we need to have a cycle of care to match the severity of the soiling condition to maintain the highest level of appearance and softness with strength at all times. The leather-safe system of care includes preventive, routine, periodic, and restorative care.

What is a Preventive Care system for Aniline leather?

A preventive care system for aniline leather is the initial surface protective conditioner applied prior to putting it to use to impart the leather with a buttery feel that enhances the leather luxuriously to the sense of touch; a non-stick surface that shields the leather from sticky soiling thus prolonging a high level of appearance; a rub-resistant ability reduces friction noises that translate into less friction wear; and the optional leather scent diffuses a classic leather scent that boosts the sensuous leather more appealing to the leather lover.

What is a Routine Care system for Aniline leather?

A routine care system for aniline leather includes procedures such as general dust cleaning, attending to spots and stains as required especially the pH balancing of sweat stains from shifting alkaline, thus preventing the leather from tackiness. A routine non-stick rub-resistant protection after neutralizing rinse helps keep leather in a more attractive and healthy state while preventing premature wear.

What is a Periodic Care system for Aniline leather?

A periodic care system for aniline leather is recommended before soiling causes damage to the finishing; this keeps leather consistently clean and healthy at all times; body contact areas would require more frequent attention than the unused areas; while the leather headrest, hand rest, handles, etc gets the most of body oil and sweat.

What is a Restorative Care system for Aniline Leather?

A restorative care system for aniline leather is the ultimate restorative or salvage care system that removes accumulated soiling including aged conditioners, and accumulated soiling that fills creases is often mistaken for cracks.

What is Prep-4.4, Cleaner-3.8, and Rinse-3.0 cleaning systems?

Prep-4.4, Cleaner-3.8, and Rinse-3.0 cleaning product is hand-picked into a restorative care system for aniline leather.
Leather Prep-4.4 is a pH 4.4 water-based heavy-duty restorative cleaner that safely removes accumulative soiling on pH-sensitive aniline leathers.
Leather Cleaner-3.8 is a water-based all-purpose mild cleaner with a pH value of 3.8 for removing Prep-4.4 residues and general cleaning follows with Leather Rinse-3.0 sync as a pH balancing rinse to stabilize the leather pH chemistry integrity, ready for hydrating and fatliquor conditioning.

What is Hydrator-3.3 and Fatliquor-5.0 hydrating and softening systems?

Leather Hydrator-3.3 is a water-based pH 3.3 hydrating conditioner that relaxes and plump soft leather fibers for easy stretching back to dimension and for more effective fatliquoring.
Leather Fatliquor-5.0 is a pH 5.0 ionic negative (-ve) charged micro-emulsion of fat, oil, and water for conditioning leather softness with strength when dry.
Fatliquor-5.0 on application, the water-encased ionic charged fat and oil molecule breaks free when attraction takes place between the fat and oil with the leather protein fiber. The excess free water wicks out leaving a breathing space behind for leather's natural transpiration.

What is the Protector-B+ protective conditioning system?

Leather Scent Protector-B+ is the leather scent version of Protector-B with an extra classic leather scent besides imparting non-stick, rub-resistant protection with a buttery feel.

    Why Products in Concentrates?

Concentrate product has an indefinite shelf life, does not freeze, has less handling damage, and save cost on shipping weight. Concentrates in the bottle have to be cut/mixed with distilled water prior to use.

How to work with Prep-4.4, Cleaner-3.8, and Rinse-3.0 systems?

1- Prep-4.4 works with a horsehair leather Brush-1 for spreading and brushing to allow for a sufficient dwell time of 5 mins to an hour for penetrating, lubricating, and suspending the soiling, then brush again prior to towel extraction until thetowel new folding side shows clean.

2- Cleaner-3.8 is sprayed and brushed and suspended soiling is towel extracted until the new folding side shows clean.

3- Rinse-3.0 is sprayed and brushed again with towel extraction until the new side shows clean and dry ready for hydrating and fatliquoring.

How to work with Hydrator-3.3 and Fatliquor-5.0 systems?

1- Hydrator-3.3 is sprayed and brushed using a horsehair leather Brush-1 to distribute and be absorbed into the leather structure.

2- When the leather appears evenly with moisture saturation, staking, massaging, and flexing return to dimension and is ready for fatliquoring.

3- Leather Fatliquor-5.0 is sprayed and brushed to distribute and be absorbed into the leather structure.

4- Fatliquor-5.0 is repeatedly applied each time the water content evaporates and until the leather takes no more.

5- Leather is left to slow natural drying and before it is fully dried, staking, massaging, or flexing until fully dry will result in softer leather, and ready for protective conditioning.

How to work with Leather Scent Protector-B+?

1- Protector-B+ is sprayed and spread with a folding towel for an even appearance, let dry, and ready to use.

    Your Questions are Welcome!

    >>> Also, would it be possible to dye one of these bags without ruining the wrinkled, distressed look? If yes, what would that process look like?

Dyeing alone will not ruin the wrinkle distress look. The leather has to be degreased so that dyeing would not be blotchy. Application is by brushing in this case with better control. There is a difference in dyestuff dyeing, using Aniline-21 is for staining and using Aniline-76 is for coating and both will require a topcoat to seal the dyestuff.
