Default Elk skin hair on rug tearing

    Hello Roger,
I'm hoping I can get some advice on how to restore this elkskin rug. It was left out in the sun for a few days and also got a little bit of dampness from rain and then we set out in the sun to dry after that we noticed it became easily torn and brittle and hard in some areas. The reason we set it outside in the first place is that it had kind of a musty odor and also a slight chemical smell.
I am also interested to know if your products are fragrance free and able to be used by people with chemical sensitivities. We do have an air-conditioned garage so the Elks skin could spend some time in the garage airing out after treatment if necessary.
    Thank you,
    Jane

    >>>The reason we set it outside in the first place is that it had kind of a musty odor

When skin rug is stored away from sunlight with high humidity, it generally attracts a variety of mold infestation that produce the musty odor.

Decontamination Solution is, after sequence-2 (B- Wet Soil Removal) instruction from Kit-H7+

and let dry before proceeding to sequence-3 (C- Hydrating)

    >>> and also a slight chemical smell.

These are some inherent leather chemistry smell that associate with dampness and will becomes less when dry.
Protector-S+ application to both sides of the skin masks the chemical with a natural leather scent.

    >>> brittle and hard in some areas.

Use Hydrator-3.3 first to soften up these areas and feather out to the entire rug to redistribute the leather constituents like the tanning agents and the fatliquor. Good to have the entire rug soak up and leave to slow drying flat on a plastic sheet with the suede side in contact and the hair facing upwards. This slow hydration will also flatten the unnatural creases and wrinkles.

    >>> we noticed it became easily torn

Fatliquor-5.0 replenishing after Hydrating satisfaction will increase the rug tear strength with suppleness.
