I thought it had but I wasn't sure. What color do you think it was original?

    From picture #8 . . .

You see the original color of the thread is whitish and the color is light tan.

When some color rubs off it reveals the light tan, thus mistaken as soiling.

The color is not well seal with a matching top coat is part of the reason.

This poor quality coloring should be entirely stripped and the original colored restored would be a long term solution.

We actually does not even know the reason for this coloring, is the coloring try to hide some stain?

Perhaps any unwanted stain should be removed rather then camouflaging with another color - just thinking!

Sample of stripping off finishes to one of the diamond.

Like to proceed with the stripping?

Here is the result of stripping of the unwanted finishes . . . as compared to picture #1 of post #1
Minus the heavy load of finishes the leather is very soft to the touch almost "Nubuck".

What color would you call that?

    >>> What color would you call that?

This is probably a mix of Yellow and Orange originally as the primary staining transparent color dyestuff like (Aniline-21). When you see post #11, there is a Tan secondary color probably translucent print like (2Tone-37).

Post #1 item details describe as “Coral Pink”, the existing refinishing matches the description, but I think the original does not when you see the original at Post #1, picture #8.

A new color if so desired is recommended to take on the darker secondary color, just to blend in and finish as “Nubuck”.

However, the color may take on a deeper intensity once it is leather rejuvenated for suppleness, more relax and plum, now it looks dry with uneven tension or light shrinkage. To finish to the desired Nubuck finish coloring, the next steps are:
    1- Hydrating with Hydrator-3.3
    2- Fatliquoring with Fatliquor-5.0
3- Cleaning up surface residue with Hydrator-3.3
4- Bonding repairs to the strap that separates with Bond-3D
5- Dry preparation by fine buffing
    6- Matching Color
7- Color Application - plan-A with Nubuck-39 (opaque micro pigment)
    8- Color fix with DyeFix-99

    Note:
If there is no adhesion problem, Nubuck finishes will produce the finest finishing to the touch with a very fine nap with better aesthetic and value.

    What do you think?

    >>> what will the micro 54 system do to it?

Micro-54 system is a compact urethane resin binder that is mixed to the coloring.

Semi-Aniline leathers from the tannery used this system to micro-pigment some of the imperfect aniline.

It is generally more durable then Napa-84 system, as it is also becomes non-absorbent for easy care.

This is a tertiary 4 color combination from White, Ochre, Tan and Orange.
