Hello,
I am posting here as a kind of last resort with my Chanel bag. i recently purchased a vintage chanel double flap bag in lambskin which was in need to total refurbishment as it was very damaged. I gave it to a handbag specialist and they gave it back to me last week.
As much as it now looks almost new, it has no shine to it anymore, more of a matte sheen. it also feels more rough than it did before the refurbishment (like material that has been painted, which i think is essentially how it was refurbished).
I know that it was never going to look as it did brand new, or feel like that either, as I know how fragile lambskin is when cared for, let alone when damaged, but i would love for it to look at least a little shinier than it is now if possible. Just wondered if there was something i could do? I tried spraying it with a leather shine spray (several times over two day, buffing after it had soaked in) but it has made no difference although did look lovely when it was lightly sprayed and i wish it remained like that as it did look very much like lambskin! I know nothing can be done about the feel of the bag, but was hoping it could be made shiny again - almost like a spray/paint on that would dry shiny and permanent. is this possible at all please? If not i still do love the bag as is so will just continue to use as is, but just in case there was something i could do about I though id ask!
i have attached pics here so you can see the bag up close and from all angles.
Many thanks for your help in advance.
Val
