Default Louis Vuitton - Totally MM bag

    Hi Roger,

Can you give suggestions to lighten and even out the patina of the vachetta leather on this bag? I have already purchased the V3 Browning removal kit (Fatliquor 5.0, Hydrator 3.3, Protector D, Vachetta 2.8), but I assume you will suggest Degreaser and Acidifier? It also looks like the straps may have been stretched out a bit - suggestions there too? Thank you very much for your help!

The Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0 system is design for obvious darkening effect form grease, oil and sweat contamination areas especially prominent to the carrying handles.

Vachetta-2.8 will still works on light grease areas and metal contact areas but mainly design to remove browning either from stains or from the natural sunlight tanning effect.

    >>> I assume you will suggest Degreaser and Acidifier?

If you could maintain the vachetta leather before it shows the darkening effect from body contact Vachetta-2.8 > Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 system has proven to work effectively. Otherwise the extreme darkening effect can be rework with Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0.

Either of the above degreasing or browning cleaning process the leather is mandatory to be follow through with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 to prevent from stiffness that leads to cracks when flexed.

    >>> It also looks like the straps may have been stretched out a bit - suggestions there too?

Leather rejuvenating with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 system helps to plums the leather for more tautness thus reduces the over stretching effect. This technique involves having the entire leather strip under dwell up to 72 hours with cling wrapping control evaporation. When leather is fully relaxed and plumps up. It is set to let the moisture content evaporates and replace with repeat Fatliquor-5.0 replenishing until fully saturated (as water contents evaporates more is applied). Fatliquor-5.0 with its fat contents becomes solid at room temperature and this is what plumps up the leather with fullness.

Leather Doctor Kit V3 – Vachetta Leather Browning Removal Kit
    http://www.leatherdoctor.com/servlet...-Kit-V3/Detail
Leather Doctor® Kit V3, unfinished leather care system is design for corrective appearance of vachetta, saddlery and veg-tan leathers from browning liquid stains. These alkaline pH sensitive leathers when neglected often suffer unsightly browning stain marks from a variety of liquid sources. Even apparent clean rain and tap water often leave a lightening spot with an outer ring. The pH 7 alone of water will often cause a rippling effect on the tannin that destabilize and causes it to moves. Browning correction is performed by using Vachetta-2.8, a pH 2.8 specialty leather cleaner that is particularly effective in emulsifying oily soiling, redox mild brass tarnish, lightening suntan and water staining effect. A holistic system includes rejuvenating the leather structure for softness with Hydrator-3.3 to relax, follows with Fatliquor-5.0 to soften when dry and protecting with the healing properties of Protector-D thereafter. The lightening effect takes place when the leather dries. When leather is wet and dry again, it will often stiff up, as the fibers becomes stick closer together. Hydrator-3.3 helps separate and open up the inter-fibrillary spaces preconditioning for effective Fatliquor-5.0 replenishing to lubricate for leather flexing smoothness from cracking. Replenishing the leather structure with fat and oil after browning corrective cleaning besides the softening effect also prevents the ingress of liquid stains as a preventive measure. When leather is full of fat and oil, it makes the leather less absorbent. Fat and oil conditioning or rejuvenating with Fatliquor-5.0 mellows and enrich the appearance of the leather while most oil conditioners will simply darkens and dulls the appearance poorly. Protector-D enhances a rub resistant draggy-feel against friction rubs and is use routinely to conceal and fill scuffmarks. Body contact areas should be clean routinely with Clean-3.8 follows with Rinse-3.0, thereafter applied with non-stick protection and commence for another cycle of use. Darken and prolong body grease and sweat contacts will require a degreasing process with Degreaser-2.2 follows with Acidifier-2.0 in most cases. Preventive cleaning and protection to shield against sticky soiling, with the abilities to heal and conceal lightening scuff and abrasion marks keeps the leather appearance level high at all times rather than relying on corrective or salvage cleaning where the cleaning appearance deteriorates and diminishes with each cycle. Note that the mentioned products suffix numbers denotes its pH value in this holistic approach to removing vegetable, plant and water stains from vachetta, saddlery and veg-tan leathers.

Thank you very much Roger! I just purchased this off eBay, and will take much better care of the bag! Own V3 and already ordered degreaser and acidifier.

I forgot to ask if I should allow the leather to dry naturally between every step of the degrease/ acidifier etc.

    Thanks again!

    Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0 is a combination degreasing-rinsing system.

We would allow it to dry to inspect for satisfaction before we go to the next Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 leather rejuvenating system phase.

In each of the above drying cycle suspended soiling particulates may continue to wick to the surface.

Wet soiling particulates are extracted or removed by a dry white terry towel during and after rinsing with Acidifier-2.0.

Dry soiling particulates are extracted or removed by leather Eraser-4 after the leather is crispy dry for inspection.

When appearance fails to satisfy, it is repeated, as we do not know how far the soiling has penetrated and may take a few cycles to completely suspend and exhaust it.
