Body fluid stain remova/scratch repair on nubuck chair

An elderly relative had an accident, so I am not sure exactly what we are dealing with in terms of the substance. The stain dried through, and then I made it worse by scratching the leather. I am looking for some guidance in (1) removing the stain; and (2) repairing the scratches.


The first two pictures show the outside of the leather. I am able to remove the casing and work from the inside on the stain. The third picture shows the back/inside of the leather/stain area.

The protein component is removed with help of d’Protein-10 > Acidifier-2.0 system from attracting the natural bacteria from the atmosphere from fermenting. The ammonia content is neutralized with d’Urine-2.1 from shifting the protein fiber ionic negative (-ve) that denatures the leather and manifest as tackiness to sliminess reverting the leather to rawhide.

Tools used are towels for extraction and nubuck Brush-2 and leather Eraser-4 on the nubuck side. Working on the reverse suede side is preferred to reduce surface damages and is to be work with suede Brush-3 and Eraser-5.

Solid soiling particulates wicks to the surface during drying and when crispy dry brush and erase accordingly.

Nubuck scratches are repair with a 350 – 380grit sandpaper.

Leather Doctor® Kit N5.uk, nubuck leather urine killer kit is designed to decontaminate urine problems. Aged urine is detectable with its characteristic ammonic odor. The presence of ammonic odor may indicate the shifting of pH value up to 10. The leather will most likely feel sticky or slimy with wet finger testing it. This stickiness is a sign of leather denaturing and reverting to rawhide. pH balance to stabilize the denaturing leather is rectify with Acidifier-2.0 prior to cleaning the protein residue with d’Protein-10. Rinse-3.0 may follow prior to treatment with d’Urine-2.1. At this stage, the leather should feel squeaky after returning to its chemistry integrity of pH 3 - 5. Stiff leather is relaxed and sticks together fiber separated by Hydrator-3.3. The penetrated stain removing process continues with hydrating prior to fat and oil replenishing with leather scented Fatliquor LS-5.5. The surface wear of the leather is greatly reduced with a rub-resistant Protector-S+ that enhances a non-stick draggy-feel to shield against sticky soiling. Note that the mentioned products suffix numbers denotes its pH value in this holistic approach for nubuck leathers urine decontamination process.



Suede Eraser-5
This is a 2½ x 2 x ¾ inch fine pumice block with corrugated side for effective nap exfoliation



Suede Soft Brass Brush-3
Suede Soft Brass Brush-3 detailing bristles brush is design ergonomically to be an extension of our hand with sturdy grooved grip, designed to produce effective result easily and efficiently. It is recommended for split suede that provides tough, aggressive cleaning with mild abrasiveness; to reduce aggressiveness slants it at an angle especially for cleaning hair on hide. Length is 7 inches with a three-row bristle 1½ inches cleaning head.

Before posting to this forum, I had already bought the d'Urine and d'Protein, and attempted to remove with just those products. As you can see, it did not really work. I've since purchased the recommended kit and am currently awaiting its arrival. I will repost once I attempt to remove the stain with all the proper products.

Tips:
Picture shows darkening effect, could possible be wick-up residue that needs to brush away with the nubuck Brush-2 and leather Eraser-4.

Suspended soiling particulates need to resurface with the help of Hydrator-3.3 and here using the paper rag for reverse transfer may be more effective to pull them all out.

Hydrator-3.3 is the last phase of the stain removing process with brushing and erasing inspection. It is this junction that decision to proceed to the next phase or repeated is decided.

Dyes could be reactivated by Hydrator-3.3 from the entire surface for redistribution and Fatliquor-5.0 replenishing saturate and intensify it. Leather structure rejuvenating is a safer approach then applying new dyes that may not match and anyway if new dye is applied it has to be to the entire cushion that may extend to the entire chair to a darker shade.

Nubuck that has wax is of the Wax Pull-Up types and this in infused into the leather structure after Fatluqor-5.0. Again when using Wax Effect-8.6 it will intensifier the hue or shade further and also imparts a whitish crystal residue when heat activated produce a natural sheen.

Prior to Wax Effect-8.6 application the leather types has to be positively identified. Greasy accumulated soiling may sometimes be mistaken for a wax finish. It is highly recommended that an inspection be done on the reverse cushion of hidden areas to determine if the nubuck is a Wax Pull-up type. Pictures shown will help you identify.

Nubuck is smooth aniline leathers that have its grain buff off to produce a fine nap finer than suede (flesh side). Fine naps are restored by using leather Eraser-4 and/or nubuck Brush-2 for a “finger writing effect.
