Katzman vachetta chair
Hey roger, pat again. heres a vachetta chair that was used as an everyday office chair so im guessing most of the browning is from sweat and oily substances coupled with some droplets that is probably some kind of tannin stain like coffee or tea just wanted to get your advice on how i should proceed with this piece.

>>> heres a vachetta chair
This is a top-coated Vachetta (In upholstery the name “Vachetta” is seldom used, rather calling them as unfinished vegetable-tanned leather). This piece is a “Finished Vegetable-Tanned” leather.
So the topcoated damaged areas are exposed, thus can be treated as “Vachetta” or “Unfinished Veg-Tan”.
Name is not as important as how it is finished and how to restore it back to the original..
>>> most of the browning is from sweat and oily substances
A recommended degreasing and pH balancing to reduce the browning is as follows:
Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0 > [continue without getting it too dry with] > Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 > [leave to slow dry then proceed with] > Vachetta-2.8 [Inspect when dry] > Tannin-3.5 [ to remove tannin stain like coffee or tea] > Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 > [Inspection] AnilineTop-76G [Deteriorated topcoat is sanded off with new application].
Tips:
Veg-Tan leathers unfinished (Vachetta) and finished are very thirsty of Fatliquor-5.0.
Make sure it is well replenished up to 15% fat and oil content when dry, otherwise, if left to dry will leads to magnified cracking.

Roger,
do you have any before and after pictures of a vachetta leather that was in bad condition like this and that was restored?
