Dyeing to a darker color is the usual practice in most cases.
The suede should be free of foreign contamination prior to redyeing it and the grease from the collar should be gone.
The redyeing sequence of process is recommended as follows:
1] Dry soil removal:
Dry soil removal is done with detailing suede Brush-3 in combination with suede Eraser-5; old and deteriorated fibers are exfoliated in the process.
2] Degreasing:
Degreasing is done to the entire jacket especially concentrating at the obvious grease areas; otherwise these oily soiling will impede the dyestuff to bond with the protein fiber.
It is done with Degreaser-2.2 (pH 2.2) follows with Rinse-3.0 (pH 3.0). Degreasing is to emulsified the oily or greasy soiling turning the soiling milky-like and towel extract; besides it charges the protein fiber more ionic positive (+ve). Rinse-3.0 is the continuous process to remove and rinse away suspended soiling to be towel extracted, at the same time charging the protein fiber more ionic positive (+ve) too. These degreasing and rinsing processes are worked with the help of the Brush-3 and Eraser-5.
3] Hydrating:
Hydrating with Hydrator-3.3 (pH 3.3) has a few functions: a) helps to relax the leather structure and ease out the creases; b) helps to moves suspended soiling within the leather structure to wick to the surface; c) the dormant dyestuff from within the leather structure will resurface (just like activating tea color with hot water), to even out the difference in color especially the shoulder; d) again such pH below the leather pH neutral will charge the protein fiber ionic positively (+ve).
4] Dyeing:
Nubuck / Suede Dye-28 is a hybrid of aniline dyes and micro-pigment to gives a translucent appearance. It has more hiding power than the original transparent dyestuff, otherwise use Aniline Dye-21 instead. This is done by spraying deep into the nap and brushing at the same time not to over flood the piles.
5] Dye Fixing:
Dye fixing is done with Dye Fix-99; air brushing preferred to lock in the dye.
6] Fatliquor Replenishing:
This process is done with Fatliquor-5.0 (pH 5.0), a negative ionic charged fat, oil and water that will soften the suede when dry. This process is done with spraying evenly over the suede.
7] Non-stick, rub-resistant, silky-feel and leather-scented protection:
This is done with Protection-S+ spray-on.
