Are the Leather Doctor refinishing products practical for use by a mobile technician. I primarily work on automotive leathers on a used car lot where I need to be able to complete 10 or 12 jobs a day.
Main practical aspect is that messy application by compressed air application (overspray) can be eliminated by just using PolyBrush®.
1. Electric power not necessary on used car lot.
2. Test the system application by padding or brushing for satisfaction.
3. System is fast drying as it is low viscosity and can be dry between coats rather than a thick splash of color coat.
The General Structure for Auto Leather Color Refinishing is as follows:
Prep Cleaning:
Prep-7.7 > Cleaner-3.8 > Rinse-3.0
Use this combination for prep cleaning without resorting to hazardous solvent cleaner.
Solvent stripping is overkill as it strip and deteriorate existing color coat, thus weakening the foundation for your new color coat.
What is necessary is to remove surface contamination like silicone wipes without chemical damaging to the top and color coat.
Unless it is a 100% stripping to the leather crust which in most case is unnecessary.
Repairs:
Impregnator-26 is an aqueous protein compact resin blend compound developed to fill and tighten worn grains and surface cracks.
Leather Bond-3D is a medium soft aqueous polyurethane leather bond with good filling developed for non-absorbent leather structure repair.
Leather Bond-7A is a soft nitrocellulose lacquer emulsion developed as a bonding aid to level and remove excess leather bond from leather surface safely.
Leather Stucco-90 is a proprietary bend of soft fillers developed for leather filling repair.
Adhesion Coat:
Adhesor-73 is an aqueous compact resin developed as an adhesion promoter to assure proper adhesion of color base coat.
Color Base Coat:
Pigment-Micro-54 is a compact resin blend high performance aqueous color basecoat for pigment leather refinishing.
Top Coat:
Topcoat Micro-72 Gloss, Satin or Matte are multipurpose polyurethane aqueous leather topcoat.
Feel Coat:
Leather Scent-B is a non-stick, rub-resistance leather scent buttery-feel protector.
Auxiliary:
Crosslinker-25 is a high solid poly aziridine cross linker to increase the physical properties of topcoat.
Thickener-48 is an aqueous carboxylated acrylic co-polymer thickening agent for color coat to control viscosity and flow.
