Here is the couch and some problem areas - what should I do first?

Obviously, my steps were not done correctly as the leather got dryer and dull.

Just direct me to get this sad couch beautiful again.

Picture #5
This picture shows the contrast between used and unused

Picture #6
This picture shows that even seldom-used area at the back the topcoat gets delaminated. This condition clearly shows that the topcoat condition has deteriorated. And in the used areas such as in picture #2 & #3 when clean shows that the top coat is gone as well.

It is not completely bad for such a cleaning result as shown in picture #3. Picture #1 could be a protein based stain that tends to coagulate with the leather protein fiber.

Picture #4
This picture shows surface damages, dry as “mud cracking”.

To sum it up, the entire leather will need a complete restoration both to the leather structure and to the finishes.

Leather Structure Restoration:
The surface is cracking up, restoration would require this necessary steps.

1] Do what has been done to picture #3 to the entire leather surface.
Either Degreser-2.2 > Rinse-3.0 or Prep-4.4 > Cleaner-3.8 > Rinse-3.0
This is for degreasing or corrective cleaning that removes dye transfer stains.

2] Hydrate
Hydrator-3.3
This hydrating process is to wick out penetrated stains to resurface to be erase with Eraser-4 when crispy dry.

3] Fatliquor Replenishing
Fatliquor-5.0
This process is to soften up and strengthen the leather when it dries, to prevent further cracking to the leather.

Leather Surface Restoration:
There is 2 option for the surface restoration, using transparent dyestuff as your original, but you have to consider the stains that are too old and stubborn that will show through using the same color intensity.
Alternative is to consider an almost red-brown to camouflage all stains that may still be there. You only decide the color at the worst stain removing areas. The advantage of aniline is that it has a natural see through look.
The next option is to use “opaque” micro-pigment to camouflage what stains still remains just like painting over. You can retain your original color if you like or to a darker shade.

Let me know which direction you would like to move, Aniline or Semi-Aniline refinishing.

I believe this is the kit that you have; try testing it out on the unused area to see how it response to the degreasing. . .
