Although Picture #4 shows that the reverse is aniline dyed through, the other pictures show that they are heavily pigmented; even to tread and stitching holes as seen in picture #2.

Thus if color touch-up is necessary; revealed after finished damaged stain removal, then the refinishing system is by using custom color Pigment-56 with Topcoat-56 gloss, satin or matte to match.

High impact stains as shown in picture #3, has more likelihood of finish damages; that’s why the color touch-up or refinishing have to come in mind. This extras besides the stain removal has to be price as an option especially to paying customer.

Product Testing:
The reverse side of picture #5 or other hidden areas could be used to do a testing for the Prep-7.7. Just drip one drop and leave it dwell up to 72 hours if possible with in-between re-application when it dries. This procedure is to test the strength of the leather finish if it’s strong enough to without the chemical reaction of Prep-7.7. If it pass its test, then it is worry free to proceed with the removing the three level of stains on this bag.

General soiling type:
These are the stain as shown in picture #4, the different of surface from within the grooves. This stain types is most likely to be removed after dwelling approximately 4 hours, when towel extracted proves satisfactorily, the sticky residue would be removed by Cleaner-3.8 follows with Rinse-3.0. Thereafter it is recommended to be protected with a buttery-feel, non-stick, rub-resistant, leather-scented protector with Protection-B+.

White stain type:
This could be a rub off from other painted surface, Dwelling with Prep-7.7 with agitation using a blunt bamboo-stick is ideal for the purpose after 2 to 4 hours dwell to soften it up. Again with satisfaction the sticky residue is remove with Cleaner-3.8 > Rinse-3.0 accordingly.

Black abrasions stain type:
These stains are rub-in with high force impact and would require more time to remove as the above white paint type.

The whole idea with testing of the strength of the finish, dwelling, bamboo/ice-cream stick as spatula to gently remove the stain is to prevent finish damages.

If stains removal is done carefully, it will save the extra steps to go into finish correction with color or topcoat.

However, Protection-B+ will reduce future such abrasion stain, and if it does, will be easier to remove because of its non-stick surface.

Try it out and show us the result…

OK Roger, it has been 4 days and the area where Prep 7.7 was applied shows no damage to the red pigment, it only feels sticky to the touch.

Here are the rest of the pictures.
Also what can I do about the wear in picture 3498, and should I polish the hardware and lock or should I leave the patina alone?

Metal patina or tarnish can be removed by applying the d’Tarnish-1.3 as per instruction; have to be careful as chrome coating is unpredictable, unless it’s solid brass.

Wear to picture 3498 are done in this sequence of processes:

a) Erase soiling with Eraser-4.
b) Use a cotton swab to apply Adhesion-73 and let dry.
c) Apply matching color Pigment-64 with cotton swab or foam brush to match. Sanding if necessary use 1000 and above grit.
d) Apply matching luster – gloss, satin or matte to match with Topcoat-56
e) Finish with rub-resistant Protection-B+.
