Leather Doctor® Pigmented Leather – Mold Odor Killer Kit P2.mo
Leather Doctor® pigmented leather mold odor killer Kit-AP3.mo - features two specialty products; d’Mold-3.6 and Fatliquor LS-5.5. d’Mold-3.6 is a pH 3.6 leather-safe non-phenol tannery grade fungicide developed to kill mold growth. For extreme cases an 8 monthly treatment cycle will secure long term effectiveness against re-occurrence. This is highly recommended in tropical areas or when leather is further kept away from use in the absence of UV light, high relative humid dampness, warm temperature and poor air circulation. These conditions favor mold to flourish; with an early characteristic suffocating musty odor detection, to progressive damages that manifests as dissolving sinking pits and dry rotting. Besides the surface restorative cleaning and treatment, rejuvenation to the structure is recommended to restore its structural integrity. The unsightly sinking pits if any may require physical removal with finish restoration to return to its aesthetic appearance. Fatliquor LS-5.5 is the leather scent version of the Fatliquor-5.0 that not only imparts the classic leather scent; it also lubricates the leather structure fibrils for softness, suppleness and strength when dry. Mold is a living organism and damages is progressive; that timely preventive anti-fungicidal control is preferred over corrective restoration, from water damages or when one decides to store away their leather temporarily.

■ Pigmented Leather – Mold Odor Killer System:
Mold decontamination starts with dry soil removal of the surface growth as the 1st phase. The wet cleaning 2nd phase involves decontamination cleaning with Prep-7.7. The sticky residue is removed with Cleaner-3.8 with a final acidifying rinse using Rinse-3.0. This ends the surface decontamination cleaning and is leave to dry for the fungicidal treatment thereafter.
Instructions
1st phase – Dry Soil Removal:
Disposable latex gloves and dust mask protection during dry soil removal is recommended, depending on the severity of mold infestation. Dry soil removal in the 1st Phase may involve - erasing with the sponge side of the leather Eraser-4; stitching seams and perforated panels brushing with horsehair leather Brush-1; compressed air blowing into crevices with simultaneous vacuuming using a HEPA vacuum cleaner. It’s recommended to test wipes the entire surface including hidden areas with a white absorbent towel to check for effective dry soil removing until towel shows clean, prior to moving into the wet soil removal phase.
2nd phase – Wet Soil Removal:
Wet soil removal is accomplished by the penetrating, lubricating and suspending power of Prep-7.7.
1] Apply Prep-7.7 and agitate with horsehair Brush-1, to a section at a time and let dwell for 10mins to 1hour to emulsify or suspend tough soiling.
2] Towel extract suspended soiling until it shows clean.
3] Sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 with gentle brush agitation and towel extraction until it shows clean.
4] Spray Rinse-3.0 and towel extract to a squeaky clean.
3rd phase – Fungicidal Treatment:
Disposable latex gloves and mist mask is highly recommended during the d’Mold-3.6 application and foam brushing is preferred to reduce airborne.
1] Shake well, spray, brush spread it and leave to natural dry.
4th phase – Hydrating:
Leathers, when wet and then dry again, have the tendency for the fibrils to becomes stick together - known as the Van der Waals or London force phenomenon. This resulted stiffness when flexed, may lead to premature cracks, as often seen on neglected leathers. It is recommended to hydrate these exposed leather structure, plumping it ready for fatliquor replenishing while it is still damp.
1] Apply Hydrator-3.3 by foam brushing to the exposed absorbent micro-crazing areas, and especially the stitching rows and perforated sections.
2] Inspection is to ensure an even application to plumps the leather effectively ready for immediately fatliquor replenishing process.
3] Advanced technique utilized layers of paper towel acting as reserves to allow a slow seeping through the micro-crazing into the leather structure. The entire seat is thereafter wrapped with plastic cling wrapper to control evaporation for an overnight plumping dwell.
5th phase – Fatliquor Replenishing in conjunction with Leather Scent Enhancing:
This is a 2-in-1 leather structure fatliquor replenishing process in conjunction with the classic leather scent odor masking to return the leather its original unforgettable scent. When dry thereafter, the leather fibrils will be well separated and lubricated to slide over one another smoothly; during practical use, to withstand the constant compressing, stretching and flexing with suppleness, thus prevents premature ageing often seen on neglected leathers.
1] A visual and finger probing inspection are to ensure thorough hydrating, with structural plumping softness.
2] Fatliquor LS-5.5 follows the same procedure as the Hydrator-3.3, with in between drying application as water evaporates.
3] When dry the surface is check for milky strays, using the hydrator to further drive the fatliquor into the leather structure.
4] The rejuvenated leather is left for slow natural drying for extra softness.
6th Phase – Non-stick, Rub Resistant and Leather-Scent Protection:
While the leather scent of the Fatliquor LS-5.5 mask from the structure; this Protection-B+ (Leather Scent-B) protector mask from the surface; in a coordinated effort to synergize and imparting the classical leather scent.
1] Shake well, mists spray, spread with foam brush; leave to dry and its ready for use.
■ Pigmented Leather - Routine Care System:
Routine care includes procedures such as general dust cleaning. Attending to spots and stains as necessary, especially the neutralizing of perspiration stains from shifting alkaline. Thus prevents leather from tackiness. A routine non-stick rub- resistant protection after neutralizing rinse helps keep leather in a more attractive and healthy state, while preventing premature wear.
Instructions
1st phase – Routine Cleaning:
1] Spray Rinse-3.0, Brush-1 agitates and towel extract until it shows clean.
2] Let dry and inspect for satisfaction, otherwise repeat or proceed to non-stick rub resistant protection.
2nd phase - Non-stick Rub Resistant Protection:
This rub resistant protection helps reduce finishes friction wear; that also imparts a non-stick natural buttery-feel against sticky soiling; with an unforgettable classic leather scent.
1] Apply Protection-B+ (Leather Scent-B) after shaking well, spread with lint free towel, buff when dry and its ready for use.
■ Pigmented Leather - Periodic Care System:
Periodic care is recommended before soiling causes damages to the finishing. This keeps leather consistently clean and healthy at all times. Regular used areas would require more frequent attention than the other less frequent used areas. While the headrest and armrest would be more vulnerable to damages from body sweat, oil and grease contacts.
Instructions
1st phase – Periodic Cleaning:
1] Spray Cleaner-3.8 and agitate with horsehair Brush-1; ensuring a uniform application over the entire surfaces a section at a time.
2] Towel extraction until it shows clean.
3] Remaining residues are spray rinse with Rinse-3.0 and towel extract to a squeaky clean.
4] Let dry and inspect for satisfaction, otherwise repeat cleaning process as necessary or proceed to non-stick rub-resistant protection.
■ Pigmented Leather - Restorative Care System:
This is the ultimate restorative or salvage care system that removes accumulated soiling including the unwanted conditioners to its original finishes. Accumulated soiling that fills creases is often mistaken for cracks. This restorative cleaning is achieved by the chemical reaction of the Prep-7.7 to effectively break down those tough soiling with its penetrating, lubricating and suspending power. Its thick as honey allows it to coats the surface allowing effective dwell time, thus providing the opportunity for the prep to fully emulsify or suspend stubborn soiling. Horsehair detailing Brush-1 is recommended to worked into heavily soiled areas, sufficient to avoid excessive agitation that might damage already weaken finishes especially on heavily used areas.
Instructions
If alkaline or all purpose cleaners were used before, it’s recommended to wet finger test for tackiness by using distilled/tap water. If it is, neutralize the side effect of alkaline overexposure with Acidifier-2.0 found in Kit P3.ts to return the leather to a healthy squeaky feel prior to Prep-7.7 application. It is also recommended that dry soil removal takes place prior to prep application.
1st phase - Restorative Cleaning:
1] Apply Prep-7.7 and agitate with horsehair Brush-1; ensuring a uniform application over the entire surfaces a section at a time.
2] Allow a dwell time of 10 to 30 minutes or before it dries prior to towel extraction until it shows clean.
3] Sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 with gentle brush agitation and towel extraction until it shows clean.
4] Remaining residues are spray rinse with Rinse-3.0 and towel extract to a squeaky clean.
5] Let dry and inspect for satisfaction, otherwise repeat cleaning process as necessary or proceed to non-stick rub resistant protection.
2nd phase - Non-stick Rub Resistant Protection:
This rub resistant protection helps reduce finishes friction wear; that also imparts a non-stick natural buttery-feel against sticky soiling; with an unforgettable classic leather scent.
