Note:
Repair of this strip is between Preparation Cleaning with Leather Softening by Hydrating/Fatliquoring and Color Refinishing; otherwise the repair is visible.
This repair is recommended after the leather original fatliquor is replenished together with the donor piece for softness, suppleness and strength. When done so accordingly it should be good for the next 5 years and beyond of practical usage. This repair is done without the using of heat or solvent-based products.

Steps:
1 It is best to find a donor piece of the same color to begin with.
2 Trace the shape of the gap onto a stiff transparency and cut out the donor piece from there.
3 A 0.4mm thick full grain leather patch is used as a sub-patch to hold the donor piece in place with a water-based leather bond for the horizontal bonding.
4 The joints vertical thickness of about 1mm is filled to level up with the surface using leather bond and leather fibers scrape from the reverse leather side.
5 Without using any leather stucco, this homogenous repair where the bond becomes part of the leather, it ensures no cracking of the gap when leather is put to stress and flex.
6 The final topping of the gap is done with a mix of color into the leather bond.
