We can already see some dark healing marks on the leather.

Repairing the leather with leather bond, using Bond-3D will also gives similar dark healing marks; and may and may not be acceptable to the customer; need to qualify as the darkening effect cannot be reverted.

Options are either to redye to as dark as those existing mark or lighten up the mark repair line with opaque color matching pigment.

Picture #2 shows another obvious rip appearing and may need to be repaired as well.

The weakening of the leather that lose its tear-strength may be due to the diminishing of original fatliquor; Hydrating with Hydrator-3.3 follows with Fatliquor-5.0 will certainly re-strengthen the leather structure prior to the repair.

Products that you need for this repair are as follows:

Leather DoctorŽ Leather Patch-4S:
It’s for used as a sub-patch or as a surface skin repair.
This is 0.4mm thick vegetable tanned full-grain leather

Leather DoctorŽ Leather Bond-3D:
It’s for leather structure bonding repairs.
This is an aqueous medium soft polyurethane leather bond that will not lift the leather finishes unlike other solvent based glue.

Leather DoctorŽ Leather Bond-7A:
It’s for bond smoothening aid and excess clean up.
This is a soft nitrocellulose lacquer emulsion bonding aid.
It’s to level and remove excess leather bond from leather surface safely.

Leather DoctorŽ Leather Stucco-90:
It’s for leather filling repairs or in conjunction with leather Bond-3D colors and dyes.
This is aqueous high concentrated compact resin blend leather stucco.
Note:
We will avoid using this stucco as the white color is not suitable to repair on dark color; instead we will use the fiber from the suede side of this leather to make it a homogeneous repair; all the products use becomes part of the leather.

Tools Required:
1] Pencil
2] Scissors
3] Metal Base Support
4] Leather Spatula-6
5] Hair Dryer
6] Forceps
7] Leather Razor-60
8] Waxed paper

Recommended steps for a homogeneous repair:

Step 1] Place the leather Patch-4S into the rip; facing the suede side upwards against the suede side of the cushion leather.

Step 2] Align the patch smooth without ripple and trace out the rip contour with pencil.

Step 3] Cut out minimum half inch on both side of the contour and discard the remaining.

Step 4] Place the strip of Patch-4S back into the rip; now place a flat metal plate support below the patch from the zipper to act as a firm support to work on the bonding repair; this will ensure that the bonding repair is flat and tight.

Step 5] Apply sufficient Bond-3D to one side of the patch (see which lower-side should be down first to work on) and to the leather as well and press flat with help of leather Spatula-6; use hairdryer for fast drying.

Step 6] When it is dry, work on the other upper side with sufficient Bond-3D; hold down with forceps and pull in for a slight overlap; and press all the way flat against the flat metal support and gently smoothen any bubbles that may be trapped; blow dry until it stays on its own.

Step 7] Filling the gap; the normal usage of using the Stucco will be replace by the natural fibers form the suede side of this leather (this fibers is gather from the reverse side of the leather by scrapping the suede side and fill the gap together with Bond-3D; the way fiberglass is done; with the help of Spatula-6. Bond-3D and fibers is continuously filling the gap simultaneously building the gap flush up to the surface.

Step 8] Bond-7A is used to level up the harden Bond-3D and smoothen out the repair.
Note: To avoid scratches work the Spatula-6 over a waxed paper.

Done, this is the most natural repair you ever get; we call it close to a natural healing process.

If done properly with sufficient Bond-3D, this repair in most situations becomes stronger than the surrounding area; and should carry a life-time warranty if the leather is service using the leather-safe Leather DoctorŽ system.

So far I have yet to see my repair comes back!

You can show pictures; that you have interpreted the above steps correctly.
