Hi; I have this beautiful Chanel goatskin that has some stains or discoloration on the surface, itÂ’s originally a gunmetal color; can you help me figure out how to fix this? Do I need to repaint the bag? Which kit would work best? Thank you!

>>> Hi; I have this beautiful Chanel goatskin that has some stains or discoloration on the surface,

Stains will need to be removed, discoloration will need color to camouflage it.

>>> itÂ’s originally a gunmetal color;

Can you open the flap and take a look at the hidden area?

>>> can you help me figure out how to fix this?

Yes, we shall discuss depending on the kit that you pick.

>>> Do I need to repaint the bag?

Yes, I recommend using an Aniline dyestuff that will bring you close to the original Chanel black bag.

>>>Which kit would work best?

Thank you! This is the inside of the bag, I guess I am not sure if these are actually stains or some discoloration etc.

Can you please give me the restoration steps using this kit? (I am new to this to the more detailed the better) thank you!

>>> Thank you! This is the inside of the bag, I guess I am not sure if these are actually stains or some discoloration etc.

It looks that the outside color still looks good comparing it with the inside except for the unknown stain that could be just a stain, pigmentation will not be able to get it out or these are mold growth if they smell musty below the surface.

My recommendation is to restore it in steps.

Step 1 is to give it a restorative cleaning using the Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0 system with Leather Eraser-4 to the front to see some results if the stains are removed. From the picture, it looks like the stains come from within the leather, rather than from external sources.

Step 2 is to hydrate and recondition the fatliquor (fat and oil) diminished content to restore the plumpness and suppleness of the leather with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Fatliquor-5.0 system.

These 2 steps are the 'wet process' and have to be performed as a continuous sequence.

We would like to see the result before moving into the 'dry process'.

I went through the wet process and the stains seem quite stubborn. I can use leather paint to cover these strains but do you think this would be safe? I do think the leather recovered a lot of the plumpness after applying the fat liquor..

Thanks for the help!

I do not think this skin pigmentation can be cleaned off, just like a dark mole or wart on our light skin.

>>> I can use leather paint to cover these strains but do you think this would be safe?

Yes perfectly safe with Adhesor 73, Aniline 76, Aniline Top 76G, and Protector B system.
(Aniline 76 is not a paint it is a coating aniline dyestuff to bring back the show room lambskin quality).

>>> I do think the leather recovered a lot of the plumpness after applying the fat liquor.

You can do it over again, allowing the Hydrator 3.3 to completely relax before applying Fatliquor 5.0.

Thank you, just to be sure is Aniline 76 going to change the color to black or keep the current gunmetal color?

The color needs to change to transparent Aniline black for the reason that the dark stain needs to be covered. It's a camouflaging work that still retains the original finish type.

And if you do not like it, just use Leather Stripper 2.3 to strip it off.
