I often come across bags that have this problem where the brass hardware has tarnished and the verdigris/patina rubs on the leather causing a dark discoloration. Looking for something that will help remove the dark staining but hopefully preserve the color of the bag. Thanks for your advice. I'm hoping the attached photo comes through.

We know about this problem with brass and other metal hardware that will stain the leather. This is a common problem, especially bags that are made from veg-tanned leathers, naked veg-tanned leathers, is known as Vachetta, made popular by Loius Vuitton. We developed a system not only removing the stains, but the leather overall will need proper cleaning and conditioning too. And the product Vachetta-2.8 is specially designed for a redox (reduction-oxidation) reaction to take place. A holistic system ensures the safety of side effects, especially since Vachetta is more pH sensitive than normal chrome leathers. The fatliquor dries up fast with improper usage of non-pH dedicated products, and results in stiffness and cracking when flexed. So b e very careful to replenish the fatliquor within the system instructions.
I have made a mysterious often misunderstood leather care into a simple 1-2-3 with a holistic system based on science and logic. See this kit . . .

Two products can be added to Kit-V3. . . LeatherTarnishRemover-1.3

And LeatherBasifier-8.8

These two products are formulated to remove the metal stain by redox (reduction-oxidation) and pH neutralized with Basifier-8.8 (pH 8.8). Since LeatherTarnishRemover-1.3 is a low pH value of 1.3 will need to balance the leather back to its neutral pH value of 3-5. Another safe product to be used with this system is Rinse-3.0. Thus LeatherTarnishRemover-1.3 > Basifier-8.8 > Rinse-3.0 to ensure the safety intigrity of leather after the stain remover.

With the optional system mentioned above the dark stain would be removed and the color preserved, however, take note that most of veg-tanned leather are very dry of fatliquor, and getting it wet and dry again may posed stiffness to the leather without a fatliquor replenishing while the leather is still wet from the cleaning process. Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 is very highly recommended after the stain cleaning system.

If you are not too sure, please post5 your questions.
