So while removing the steering wheel last week my ratchet slipped and it put a few fairly bad cuts/gouges in the leather. (my heart sank down to my feet also!)

See pictures below.
The leather is still pretty soft and still shows decent grain despite being 12 years old. There's a heating element under the leather also, so I need to be somewhat careful with whatever repairs it requires.

Two questions: Can these be repaired? And if so is it a DIY project? I like a good DIY challenge.

>>> Can these be repaired?
Yes, it can be repaired, a repair that becomes part of the leather without cracking.

>>> And if so is it a DIY project? I like a good DIY challenge.
Yes, it is a DIY project.

The project may turn out better than a professional that uses an inferior product system.

We can discuss the various product system options, that will look good and fail and that will look good and will not fail in cracking.

I'm interested in learning what needs to be done, no cracking would be ideal. Thanks!
