This set is in my shop now, Sofa, Luv & ottoman. I sent you the deck tag. I need the color. Is the topcoat removal process the same as you recommended on the 15 year old commercial set I sent you pictures of?

The deteriorated leather finishes removal process will be using the same technique I post http://www.leathercleaningrestorationforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2697
using a combination of tools like Razor-60, Eraser-4 or a low speed sander using appropriate sanding grade to remove the old finish without hurting the leather grain.

When the leather is hydrated and fat liquored it is stronger than dry, while the finishes is weaker when wet.

All physical finishes removal can be work in conjunction with Cleaner-3.8 or Hydrator-3.3 when lubrication is necessary to work with Razor-60 without hurting the leather grain. It then continues to works with Rinse-3.0 when there is sufficient lubrication. When work on weak worn areas, Fatliquor-5.0 helps to strengthen the leather grain to make shaving safer without hurting the naked leather.

Continue maintaining the leather structure damp helps to clean the leather better, especially when leather is absorbent.

Let me know your new experience – you may enjoy working with leather more with new found “green” confidence.

I still am missing something in the impregnation process. During removal of the old finish the leather gets sueded out & the impregnation helps but still the feel is off. How do I create a "new skin"?

Apply Impregnator-26, and compressing the surface with a smooth curve object when almost dry; and when complete dried, sand it smooth with sandpaper.

These two processes are done repeatedly until you get a smooth surface.

I hope I understand your situation of not getting a smooth feel.
