We still have to “guesstimate” the unknown stain by:

Identification by Appearance:
Often appearance will show the characteristic of a stain by its shape.
The shape looks more of a body fluid stain from a sitting position when someone has bladder control problem.

Identification by Smell:
Stains identification by smell can be very helpful in positive identification.
If its urine the characteristic ammonia smell is always a giveaway, feces is more of a pungent smell.

Identification by Color:
Color of stains will also give a clue of its source.
This is just a darkening effect and it’s a more probably body fluid than from oil-based substance.

Identification by Feel:
With our fingers, the feel may help to determine what the substance may be.
Softer if it’s an oil-based stain stiffer if it’s from a protein based stain.
The oiliness, stickiness or squeakiness will also helps to match up with other findings.

Identification by Location:
The stain shape fits the shape of one’s buttock!

Spots and Stains Removal Process:

1] Urine/feces Stains:
d’Protein11.0 > d’Urine2.2 > d’Odor4.5(optional) > clean3.8 > rinse3.0 > d’Bacteria3.7.

2] Oil based Stains:
prepClean4.4 > d’Odor4.5(optional) > clean3.8 > rinse3.0.

General Cleaning and Fatliquoring the Entire Cushion:
3] clean3.8 > rinse3.0 > fatliquor5.0

Note:
Why fatliquoring?
Remember any leather that is wet and dry again without fatliquor will feel stiffer as the fibers within the structure becomes stick together.
Therefore a light fatliquoring will help very much in softening and strengthening the leather when dry.
Fatliquor5.0 can also be used to even out the color shade difference after spot removal, so that the cushion would have a more even appearance in terms of color saturation.
