I have an Alpaca rug that is in need of repair. The stitching has come apart and other parts have torn.

I am looking for someone who has experience in repairing (or creating) Alpaca Rugs (or similar) to repair mine, preferably in driving distance from Sydney Australia.

Any ideas?

I believe you are talking about the tear at the stitching rows.

The rug becomes dry of its original fatliquor (fat and oil) that is the reason the stitch strength has weakened.

The rug needs first to replenished the fatliquor to regain tensile tear strength before repairs.

A combination of stitching to hold the parts together and a flexible bond agent is preferred.

Let me know if you need more details.

Roger,

You appear to be in Canada.

The thread asks for someone in Sydney, Australia.

Do you know anyone in Sydney, Australia who can perform the task?

Thanks
