Hello,

I made a huge mistake and left the sunroof open this week. Then came the rain and soaked everything inside. Next came the super hot summer sun and flash dried the water on the seat. I'm left with very rough, hard leather on one of my seats. What are the proper steps to restore this leather back to it's original state? I'm assuming it's going to need a lot of conditioning to let it soften back up, but not sure how or what to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! It is black leather and I don't want to use something that will cause discoloration.

I've added some attachments of the damage that has been done. Let me know if you think it is repairable.

Thanks, Dave

Only the suppleness can be restored back to original with enough fat and oil about 14% in content. Once the leather structure is relaxed and stretched by hydrating it is then ready to condition with fatliquoring.

The embossing will disappear and the finishing will most likely be delaminated or ripples with peeling as finishing once damaged need refinishing.

The details of restoring the water damaged stiffness is found in this Kit-At5.ws.

Color refinishing will require Kit-AP7.cl
