>>> got another set in that has some severe sun fading.
Severe fading affects both the dyestuff and the fatliquor (fat and oil) content of average 14%. The fat and oil content also saturate the color intensity of the dyestuff by providing a deeper colored leather crust. So the fatliquor content that needs to be replenished will also increase suppleness and color intensity.
Severe sun fading also weakens the existing faded finishes and is highly recommended that they are removed for a stronger adhesion directly to the leather grains. Adhesor-73 promotes good adhesion, and when used to scrub it will also remove some of the weakened deteriorating finish residues. A good softening and strengthening of the leather structure, deteriorated residue removed clean, an adhesion sealer as the base coating will ensure the long lasting if this refinishing job.
>>> the ottoman has general wear and tear (scratches fading etc). just wanted to show you some pics and get your thoughts on how to restore these couple pieces.
Refinishing restoration can only begin when surface contamination needs to be removed, and pH balanced so that sticky or slimy surface is neutralized to a healthy squeaky feel with a low pH rinse like Acidifier-2.0 with a low pH value of 2.0. A low pH cleaner with a pH value of 1.5 is also available in combination with this system that involves Degreaser-2.2 > ProCleaner-1.5 > Acidifier-2.0. Well the suffix numbers represent the product pH value. Remember that leather is an amphoteric material and the low pH value of the products ionic charges the leather protein fiber ionic positive (+ve). Remember that the other leather constituents like the tanning agent, dyestuff and fatliquor are ionic negative (-ve).
A good ionic charge increases the hydrogen bonding making leather a strong, supple material for long lasting durability.
>>> i will have to get a piece of the ottoman out to you asap.
Start with a new post with this ottoman, otherwise, it might get confused.
