Hi Roger,
My vintage lambskin bag has scuffs on the edges and breaks on the leather entwined in the chain.
I already conditioned the leather with the hydrator and fatliquor. Also finished it with Protector B.
How can I fix these issues?
thank you!

>>>My vintage lambskin bag has scuffs on the edges.

Since the scuffing is unknown, we have to assume that it has dry-rotted through body contact contamination and the structure integrity had compromised. Since repairs need to be done with refinishing as an option it is wise to restore it holistically through this sequence of process: Degreaser-2.2 > Acidifier-2.0 > Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 > Dry-Prep > Impregnator-26 > Bond-3D > Bond-7A > Aniline-76 > AnilineTop-76G > Protector-B/B+.

>>> and breaks on the leather entwined in the chain.

Tear or breakage indicates dryness of the leather from the original 15% of fatliquor (fat and oil) contends. When the fatliquor dries up the leather tensile strength suffers. Leather rejuvenating with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 to bring up the percentage of fatliquor re-strengthens the leather. A stitch often need to hold the tear or split and fill over with Bond-3D > Bond-7A for added strength and aesthetic accordingly.

Hi Roger,

Thank you for your reply.
I still have items from the previous kit and some items on the way:
2 bottles Hydrator
2 bottles Fatliquor
Degreaser 2.2
Acidifier 2.0
Rinse 3.0
Aniline 76G
Protector B

May I just order the other items ala carte?
Bond 3D
Bond 7A
Dry Prep
Impregnator
Aniline 76

I hope i did not miss anything?
Will there be a black dye of some sort to touch up the leather?
Can i just work on the scuffed edges of the bag instead of doing the whole bag?

Thank you.

Yes you may order items that will make up to the collection system of Kit-A7.cl and also mentioned products for repairs.

Stucco-90 is an option for filling repairs, besides using Bond-3D and Bond-7A

In the Kit-A7.cl there is an option for the color of the dye. And you may order as an individual item here: http://www.leatherdoctor.com/aniline-76/

Can i just work on the scuffed edges of the bag instead of doing the whole bag?

Yes, you may, but may look newer the entire bag, due to the freshness of the new refinishing.

Hi Roger,

Which Dry Prep are u referring to in the process?
Am trying to order items ala carte.
For the purpose of my repair , do i really need Stucco?
Both Bonds 3 and 7?
Trying to minimize my purchase to the necessities.
Thanks for your advise.

Regards
Joji

>>> Which Dry Prep are u referring to in the process?

“Dry-Preparation'' is the process after the fatliquoring (Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3) process. The dried existing deteriorating finishes is removed with brushing with the horsehair brush, LeatherEraser-4 and Sand2000 to a clean service ready for repairs>

Repair may include the following as necessary:

1- Impregnator-26
2- Bond-3D
3- Bond-7A
4- Stucco-90
5- Adhesor-73

1- Impregnator-26 is recommended to over-stretch areas deep into the leather structure for added flexing strength.
2- Bond-3D is strong and very flexible, but will need repeated application to fill up gaps.
3- Bond-7A is necessary to melt the Bond-3D and smooth out the repairs.
4- Stucco-90 is for a quick filling up of gaps, however it will crack easily on high flex areas. Therefore to increase
its flexibility Bond-3D is added 50/50 mix for a quicker fill.
5- Adhesor-73 is a primer, sealer and promotion adhesor between the leather and the finishes for a good bonding.

The application instructions are found in the individual products.
