long story short . I wish I have found your earlier . I trusted a local leather supply store and believed mink oil paste won’t darker the leather.
I have applied it on my eBay 1998 Noe which originally has a beautiful honey patina. And boy it turned my vachetta darker. The side strap which was a bit dryer for darker. I was desperate and looked for solution online and many believed sanding vachetta lightens leather .
Fast forward I have used tape to lightly peel off the top layer of the vachetta and it worked at first. But I lost the shine it originally had. It was light and felt a bit like suede. Than I was suppose to lightly conditioner it and buff with a microfibre cloth.
This is how is looks like now . It didn’t have the shine anymore and it didn’t got too much lighter.
What can I do at this point . Is there anything that can lightened the vachetta and add the shine back to it ? I also had a funny feeling they has a bit of protective coding on the bag ( eBay japan sea seller)
Please please help
