View Full Version : Trying to restore old leather jacket

Bought a leather jacket from second hand store. It was pretty wrinkled and crunchy in places. It said washable leather on the label so I threw it in the washing machine. After using 3.3 and fat liquor it's looking better but the leather is still a bit stiff and wrinkled in some parts. Tried stretching it out but no avail. Used a whole bottle of 3.3 and most of my fat liquor. Should I move on to protector or does it need more fat liquor. Material still isn't flexible

Genuine leathers are NOT machine washable -

Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 leather rejuvenating system is only good for genuine leather

>>> Material still isn't flexible

Most likely the material is NOT genuine leather.

To inspect if the leather is genuine, see if you can get to some suede side, give it a burn test and it should be closed to the burning of hair.

Until I see the reverse suede side (convincingly) to proceed!

I took it into a leather store and he checked and showed me that the reverse side is suede and confirmed it's real leather.

OK let's test it out with a small area, the shoulder flap or the collar belt.

1- Soak it up with Hydrator-3.3 and manipulate until it is soft with wetness and stretch out the unnatural creases and wrinkles (let's see some pictures of the working progress)

2- As it dries (while still damp or about 25% total moisture content) Fatliquor-5.0 is applied with the same manipulation and stretching as 1- above (see some good pictures).

3- Let it slow dry and while still damp as above 2- repeat application total to 3 times (let see pictures).

You may take video to see how you have done it as well.

I will continue to give tips after the above.
