Hey, I just received this leather sofa today and I was wondering what this patch. The patch is sort of smooth but feels kind of hard. The feel and look of this little patch is really putting me off. I’m just wondering what I could do about it? Should I complain? Is this something that’s expected when you buy a leather sofa?

>>> The patch is sort of smooth but feels kind of hard.

Reference to picture #8, it loos like a natural healing scar of the animal.

>>> Is this something that’s expected when you buy a leather sofa?

Reference to picture #3, this look like “Nubuck”, that is a smooth aniline dye through leather buffed to produce a velveting nap. When Nubuck is created over a “pebble grain” texture, the high point is buffed off thus the lighter tone as well. If the seller would have given a description of the leather, and mentioned that natural scares are expected, then the buying experience would be better, I think.

>>> I’m just wondering what I could do about it?

You may confirm if this smooth hard patch is natural by looking at the reverse side.
If you can show some pictures we can go from there.

Cleaning these things is not easy for an amateur person like you, it's more likely that you will damage it more than you actually clean it. When I was in that situation, I've called professionals, that time it was https://www.flyttfirmaistockholm.nu/ (https://www.flyttfirmaistockholm.nu/) as i was living in Stockholm back there. The result was even better that i've imagined - it looked like a new one. Still recollecting it and saying thanks to these guys, as leather furniture isn't cheap at all. I would suggest you to do the same.
