Hello Roger;

We are working on a faded sofa and chair black aniline, they are sun faded and on the Arms and back of the chair they have oil spots which have been removed but now the open cracks are apparent. I am attaching pictures to see how you would recommend repairing these areas.

The sofa and Ottoman are not in as bad of shape and should go fine with the cleaning and restoration process. If we have questions on those we will take more pictures and send them as the questions arise.

Fading is rectified by Hydrator-3.3 to activate dormant dyestuff from below surface (it depends on the dyestuff saturation checking from the suede side to determine). Aniline-21 helps to even out prior to Aniline-76 to reduce buildup. Surfactant-3.6 is used first to prepare the leather crust to ease surface tension for even absorption avoiding blotchiness. Aniline-76 coats over the entire surface to even out appearance.

It is the insufficiency of the percentage of Fatliquor-5.0 that causes the cracks to be more apparent. Remember that fatliquor is the lifeblood of leather. To prevent such occurrence, the leather has to be top-up sufficiently either before, during or after degreasing while the leather is still moist or damp. Any drying without sufficient fatliquor averaging 14% has the potential for the leather to crack.

Top-up the leather structure with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 system to average 14% prior to repairs with Impregnator-26 for structural strength and Bond-3D > Bond-7A system to seal the cracks.
