I took an old and inexpensive black leather jacket to the dry cleaners. It was years old, and while I don't think the leather itself needed dry cleaning the quilted lining did. When I got it back the leather was very dry, and not being smart I treated it with some mink oil that I had around. A lot. I don't think that anyone will be surprised to hear that it now has a white film. Saddle soap hasn't taken it off. I've more than gotten my use out of it, but if taking it to the cleaners again would would salvage it then I might do it. Would it? Or should I just get rid of it?

Tips to restored the leather:

1 - The compound problems from the Mink-Oil and Saddle Soap have to be removed and pH balanced with Degreaser-2.2
http://www.leatherdoctor.com/degreaser-2-2/ and rinse off the remaining residue with > Acidifier-2.0
http://www.leatherdoctor.com/acidifier-2-0/ system.

2 - Further removal of the leather spew is done with CleanSpew-4.8
http://www.leatherdoctor.com/cleanspew-4-8/

3 - Leather shrinkage from the original dry-cleaning damages is then restored with Hydrator-3.3
http://www.leatherdoctor.com/hydrator-3-3/ and the leached out fatliquored replenished with Fatliquor-5.0
http://www.leatherdoctor.com/fatliquor-5-0/

4 - Optional refinishing will need to match the original finished type and pictures will help to identify it.

5 - Non-stick rub-resistant protection is also available that has to match the leather finishes type.

The cost of the products would greatly exceed the value of the jacket. So another go around with the dry cleaner won't salvage it then it's in the donation pile. Thanks.
