Hi to everyone,

I'm new to the boards, but purchased the Leather Doctor System from Roger for my lightly creased and wrinkled seats in my low mileage CLK 55 AMG.

I'll post pictures of my drivers seat bolsters as they are the only ones with wear on them.

I hope that instruction from Roger with my pics along the way will help me in softening up the creases as much as possible.

Thanks for all the help!

As you can also see there is a little color fading on the side bolster.

I'll attend to that after I first treat the leather properly.

I'm sure that the system will work well following the instructions on the bottle, but I'll wait to see if Roger will hopefully lend some expertise in utilizing the system to it's fullest potential in my amateur hands.

The reason why unnatural creases begin to appear is that the leather structure is loosing its flexibility and softness.

And heat is one reason that causes leather structure dryness.

Fatliquoring (emulsified tanning oils) was the original processes that regulate the pliability of the leather and greatly contribute to its tear strength.

As long as we constantly top-up with fatliquor5.0™ that lubricates each fiber to slide over one another like millions of tiny hinges, creases will be reduced (or eliminated with heat treatment).

relaxer3.3™ is the preconditioner for fatliquor5.0™.

Hydrating with relaxer3.3™ is the same principle as the tannery “Soaking” process to restore lost moisture to the hides.

Relaxer3.3 soaks the leather structure, relaxes and opens up the crushed fibers that cause the creases.

The above sounds straight forward - Hydrate prior to Fatliquoring!

We may have an absorbency problem to these non-perforated bolster panel.

The Top-coating may prevent direct soaking of relaxer3.3 thus no access to the internal leather structure.

Unless micro cracks has developed that draws relaxer3.3 from a soaked-up towel/rag under plastic cover (that prevents evaporation) into the leather structure.

Other route of penetration would be by the seam needle holes (injection by using Medical-Needles / Syringes).

I would suggest trying out in this sequence if the relaxer3.3 does soak-up the leather structure.

Product description and instructions are as follows; try it out if products can reach beneath the leather finishing to perform their function!

relaxer3.3 ™ specialty leather conditioner pH value 3.3 is an aqueous leather-safe leather structure hydrating conditioner.
To: hydrate dried, stiffed or shrunk leather prior to fatliquor5.0.
Instruction:
1: To clean - use d’Grease4.9, clean3.8 & rinse3.0.
2: To spray soak and agitate to saturate evenly.
3: To accelerate saturation work on the reverse side, micro cracks, needle holes or perforation.
4: To facilitate even saturation cover with tissue paper and wet thoroughly then seal it up.
5: To allow a minimum of 4 to 24 hours of soaking until the leather is fully hydrated and relaxed or stain dispersed.
6: To unwrap, extract and saturate with fatliquor5.0 while the leather is moist.

fatliquor5.0™ pH value ±5.0 is an anionic charged micro emulsion leather fatliquor conditioner.
To: replenish original fatliquor that diminishes thru ageing or cleaning.
Effectively soften leather and enhance its rip resistance tensile strength.
Relax coarse breaks, creases and wrinkles thus provide drapes, suppleness and prevent cracking.
Helps to keep leather at its optimum physical performance and prevent premature ageing.
Instruction:
1: To hydrate dried leathers - use relaxer3.3.
2: To shake well, spray and brush onto moist surface saturating it evenly.
Otherwise cover it up with soak-up rag/towel and leave it 4 to 24 hours soaking time covered-up with plastic to prevent evaporation.
3: To accelerate saturation work on the reverse side, micro cracks, needle holes or perforations.
4: To eliminate coarse breaks and creases stretch it while damp.
5: To achieve extra softness natural slow drying is preferred.
6: To get the leather as soft as you wish - flex, stake or stretch it when dry.
7: 8: To impart a leather scent non-stick feel - use leatherScent’B.

Unless we have a way to get these two products (relaxer3.3 & fatliquor5.0) into the leather structure without adverse effect to the existing leather finishes, our effort will be in vain.

Let us know how it works?

Roger

Thanks Roger,

I will give it a try this weekend and post the results next week.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to attempt the kit last weekend.

As soon as I do I will post up the results.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm very excited to try it.

I suggest you do a testing as shown in this thread, picture #2

http://www.leathercleaningrestorationforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=349

Saturate a cotton pad with relaxer3.3™ place it over one of the crease and seal it up with [cling wrapper or food film] and leave it 4 to 24 hours.

See if it penetrates the finishes into the leather structure.

If it does not, you may have to delay the above treatment 3 to 6 months later until micro-cracks develops.
