Please advise me what I need to do to bring this couch back to life.

It is used in the Family room and is about 15 years old Italian leather.

Thank you,

Banu

This condition requires a Prep Clean, a Structure Conditioning, a Surface Repair and a Refinishing.

This leather finish could be any of these system types: Aniline, Semi-Aniline or Pigmented.

It looks like all the cushion is fixed to the frame.

You may want to check the leather out from the reverse side by turning one piece one over, remove the dust cloth by removing a few staples.

See if the reverse side is also reddish in color.

If it is, then either it’s an Aniline or a Semi-Aniline.

When the reverse suede side is not reddish in color, then it’s a Pigmented leathers.

We would then decide which system fits best to maintain its original quality.

Let me know your findings before I give my recommendation for a complete renewal to this leather.

It depends on the outcome of the worst surface damage areas after repairs.

We than can decide whether we can still maintain the original Aniline finish or have to downgrade to a Semi-Aniline finish.

Aniline refinishing is “transparent” so both the original beauty of the natural hide and the ugliness of repair will all show through.

Semi-Aniline refinishing is “translucent” so semi-transparent.

Micro-Pigment refinishing is “opaque” a complete block-off of natural beauty and artificial repairs.

Let us see some good pictures of the worst damaged areas and we can predetermine which refinishing system fits best.

Yes!

Take a close-up (macro) pictures to see to what extend is the damage.

It looks like we have to forgo the original "Aniline Finish".

"Semi-Aniline" translucent refinishing might stand a good chance.

Yes...

"Semi-Aniline" translucent refinishing should be fine...
