>>> Should I glue down the flaps or remove them and micro pigment over area?

Glue down the flap recommended.

Before micro-pigment it follow this sequence:

1st – Glue down if the backing are synthetic use contact cement.
2nd – Stucco-90 to fill up – force dry – sand between coatings.
3rd – Stucco-90 may be mixed with Bond-3D for added flexing strength; color may be added for the final repairs.
4th – Adhesor-73 used as sealer and adhesion promotion prior to the micro-pigment system.

Let’s see some pictures of your repairing progress.

04-22 A The leather underneath was originally black or navy blue, so anywhere it is thin or scratched the dark shows through.

It looks like originally the edges where the leather was cut would have given these chairs a black accent line, but then they decided to paint the edges to match the chairs and that's why the flaps are just pigment and not the leather crust.
I'm having trouble getting the stucco to stick to these deep scratches and gouges, do you have a suggestion. I was going to mix up some pigment that I have from you and mix with a little thickener. What do you think?

Thickener-48 would not help as much - try mixing with Bond-3D instead.

04-23 B The dye or caulk like paint the factory used on the edges and corners. It pulls off like latex caulk.

04-23C If this shows up it shows the bead of heavy dye/caulk on the edges.

04-23 D I tried mixing 3D with matching Pigment, it soaks in and hardly covers at all. I did apply to all the bare corners and edges so they are starting to cover.

It doesn't seem like the 3D mixture, or stucco want to adhere to any of these raw areas. We have not used adhesor yet, could that help?

Is there a way to make a thicker pigment to cover the edges and corners?

Yes, it can be done with thicker pigment without the water element.
How much do you need?

We don't have the time, so we applied 5- 7 coats of micro 54 to the damaged areas, we are going to lightly sand them tomorrow and finish applying Micro -54 all over. I experimented with 1 chair and it looked good.

When used Micro-54.

You may thickening it up with Thickener-48, I believe will coats better with less coating.

They came out great, I just hope the dye sticks.

Please to see some pictures just for records to see how long it holds up.

And keep in mind that a thicker pigment without the water content is also available for future work - good for such covering problem - reduces the number of coatings!

Did you have the final Protector-B+ applied?

No, I forgot and someone else wrapped them up for delivery. I like to wait overnight after dying to insure that the dye cures thoroughly. We can apply Protection B+ the day we deliver them. Do you think it helps that much?

>>> No, I forgot and someone else wrapped them up for delivery.

Applying Protector-B+ prior to wrapping will reduce any laminating issue when unwrapping.

>>> Do you think it helps that much?

Besides it impart a non-stick barrier preventing early usage mishaps.
And a rub-resistant reducing early wears.

It is a preventive care product transition to your customer and they continue on a routine basis you recommend them – leather lovers will especially like it for its extra classic leather scent as well!
