I unfortunately used Kiwi mink oil on a new soft leather briefcase only to discover it left a sticky residue that can't be "buffed off". What do you recommend to clean this leather so it can be properly protected?

Bag was already dark so the mink oil didn't seem to really darken it much.

From picture, the blotchy uneven darkening effect is where the mink oil has penetrated the leather.

To remove the darkening effect and sticky residue may need the help of Degreaser-2.2 follows with Rinse-3.0 and inspect when dry for total removal or repeat degreasing and rinsing. For control bleeding Acidifier-2.0 is used instead.

Thereafter, leather rejuvenating for softness and strength follows with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0, and inspect condition of topcoating when dry. If topcoating is partially removed in some places, AnilineTop-21 matching luster is an option.

A non-stick, rub-resistant protection to prolong the wear of the finishes is accomplished with Protector-B+ that imparts a buttery-feel with a classic leather scent.

Tips:

Do a test on a hidden area to see how it response with Degreaser-2.2 > Rinse-3.0.

Take pictures of existing condition.

#1 Shake the Degreaser-2.2 to gel and transfer to the horsehair Brush-1, then to the leather.
#2 Gentle agitate the Degreaser-2.2 to penetrate the leather on darken areas.
#3 Let it dwell 10 to 30 minutes or before it dries and towel extract.
#4 Apply Rinse-3.0 and brush agitate to further suspend soiling with immediate towel extract.
#5 Let it dry for an inspection.

Take pictures when dry to check result.

We will go from there, if degreasing is sufficient and topcoating is intact.

Leather Doctor Kit A5.dr – Aniline Leather Degreaser Kit
Leather Doctor® Kit A5.dr, aniline leather degreaser kit is designed for routine degreasing from preventing topcoat and dyestuff finishes damages especially to the headrest and armrest areas with most of bare body contacts. Topcoat and dyestuff refinishing products are found in Kit A6.tc and Kit A7.cl respectively. Preventive regular surface degreasing is preferred over corrective penetrated degreasing as most often, the topcoat is damaged and in severe cases, the dyestuff break bonds with the protein fiber. Preventive degreasing is done before a penetrating darkening effect manifest. Degreaser-2.2 is a waterbased (pH 2.2) multifunctional degreaser that besides emulsifying the greasy contamination, it controls dye bleeding and charging the protein fiber ionic positive for strengthening the attraction between the ionic negative tanning agent, dyestuff and fatliquor. Deflocculated and suspended soiling is towel extracted, and then follows with Rinse-3.0 to a healthy squeak. Hydrator-3.3 relaxes stiff leathers and removes surface tension free from surface blotchiness prior to fat and oil replenishing. Fat and oil is replenished with Fatliquor-5.0 to rejuvenate the leather for the desired suppleness when dry. Protector-B+ imparts a non-stick rub-resistant protection with a buttery-feel that shield against sticky soiling and reduce friction noises. Note that the mentioned product suffix number denotes its pH value in this holistic leather-safe aniline leathers degreasing system.
