I recently purchased a sofa constructed of waxed pull-up leather. What products would you recommend to care for the leather? Also, since your store is down, how would I purchase these products?
Do you have any idea how frequently these products need to be applied? Also, how many applications should I estimate with one of these kits for a full size sofa?
Well the couch is pretty much brand new. It was a floor model so it has some small imperfections; however it appears to be in excellent shape. There is a spot where there is some damage on the cushion, but that's another story. I can send you pictures of that later and see if you have any recommendations. Right now I'm looking for a maintenance regimen so I'm guessing Routine care and Periodic care are what I'm concerned with.
I don't have any pets. And honestly, I'll be the only one using the couch. I'm still confused as to how often I need to be performing each step.
So the AW3 kit is for routine or periodic maintenance? Or Both?
I attached some photos, I'd like to verify this is the correct leather for the AW3 kit. The salesman told me it was a wax-pull-up, but I'm not entirely sure. Hopefully you can tell from the photos. All I have is a camera on my cell phone at the moment.
I performed the test as asked. I tried to take photos, but the quality from a cell phone camera didn't provide anything super useful. Let me do my best to describe what I saw:
1] Try stretching or pulling the leather to see if it lighten up where the tension is.
The color of the leather lightened slightly. The effect I can closest describe it to is that of stretching an un-inflated balloon.
2] Unzip the cushion to see the reverse suede side color if it is the same color as the surface.
The leather looked unfinished but close to the "brown" of my couch.. I did include a picture of this step as it was hard to describe the texture.
3] If it is the same color, it still could be the more expensive “Aniline” or the less expensive “Semi-Aniline”.
See photo?
4] Aniline uses “transparent topcoat” just like varnishing on wood; where else Semi-Aniline has an additional “opaque pigment coat” to cover blemishes prior to the matching “transparent topcoat”.
I can see blemishes in the leather. Most of the blemishes are thin darker lines which appear to be part of the surface of the leather. There are some small dots of slightly different coloration. Again, all these appear to be part of the leather. See photo
Hope this helps. Thanks again for all your help. I promise I'm buying something whenever we figure out what kind of leather this is and what's the right product.
