    Default Cowhide Rugs

Is it necessary to clean & condition the underside of this type of rug?

Will Fur n Hair-S alone condition the skin as well as hair to prevent "dandruf"?

“Is it necessary to clean & condition the underside of this type of rug?”

Cleaning the underside is the customer’s option.

Chrome-Tanned (grayish green in color) hair-on-hide is wet cleanable.

Alum-Tanned (Cream in color) hair-on-hide some are wet cleanable and some are not.

When alum tanning agent and fatliquor are leach out (“reverse tanning”) it will return to raw hide and may be easily break to pieces (especially machine washing them).

Structure Softening and strengthening is our professional recommendation.

Check for excess wrinkling or stiffness of underside.

If cleaning and conditioning is recommended for the suede underside than follow this recommendation:

    Matching level of soiling with either Super Cleaner-4.9 or Strong Cleaner-4.3 > Cleaner-3.8 > Rinse-3.0 > Fatliquor-5.0 (use suede Brush-3 &/or
    suede Eraser-5).

If softening and strengthening is required only without the need for cleaning, follow this recommendation:
    Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0.

Hair-On side is cleaned after the underside is done, follow this commendation:
    Cleaner-5.5 > Rinse-4.0.

"Will Fur n Hair-S alone condition the skin as well as hair to prevent "dandruf"?

Fur n Hair-S is a waterless cleaner not necessary for Chrome-Tanned hair-on-hide (higher cost).

It cleans and imparts sheen on dull hair with a pleasant leather scent.

“Dandruf” may be foreign residues from previous cleaning that uses dry compound.

Thorough grooming and vacuuming will do the job.

However, if it is from the leather itself (sign of deterioation), than it may need acidification with Acidifier-2.0 or a mild acidifier rinse with Rinse-3.0 to rectify alkaline exposure and strengthen the leather thereafter with Fatliquor-5.0.
