I have a affinity for these smart little holsters that were made by the Don Hume Co. many years ago, black or brown leather lined with cream colored elkskin. Here's one in good condition...

I recently purchased this one, as you can see the elkskin lining has some severe staining, probably some type of oil stain.

I tried cleaning it with leather cleaner but that only made the stains more prominent.

Any advice as to if it's possible to get back to the cream color? I know oxalic acid can be used to bleach wood, does it also bleach leather?

Any help greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Rob
