Default Zebra Hide Ottoman - it seems that it is drying out!

I have a zebra hide ottoman that is now getting very delicate. I accidentally put my high heel through an area! It used to be very tough and now it seems that it is drying out. The problem is, that it is an ottoman so the fur is showing. It is 15 years old. I don't want it to get any worse and would like to try to fix the damaged part. Does the hide need to be removed and replaced?

Leather Doctor Kit-Hu7 - Zebra/Cow Hair-On Upholstery Repair, Rejuvenating & Care Kit is package as a holistic system with two add-on products Bond-3D and Patch-4S to our care Kit-Hu4. Bond-3D is for rip and tear repair. This water-based medium soft polyurethane bonds the suede fibers when dries and becomes homogeneous part of the hide. Repairs will require close contact until it dries to bond. Backing reinforcement for strength is bond from the suede side with Patch-4S. Generally repair is done after the hair is wet cleaned and sanitized free of soiling with CleanHair-5.5 > RinseHair-4.0 system and rejuvenate or fatliquor replenishing with Hydrator-3.3 > Fatliquor-5.0 > Hydrator-3.3 system, and the hide is stretch to close-up and let dry before repairs begin. The fat and oil that remains on the hide increases its rip tensile strength. Protector-S+ impart a rub-resistant silky-feel to lubricates the hair from abrasion wear and a non-stick properties to shield the hair from sticky soiling with a classic leather scent. Note: that the products suffix number denotes its pH value in this holistic, side-effects free hide/hair-safe care system. This kit comes with “Fill” shipping version, a reduced weight option to save on shipping, freezing and ease of handling, thus concentrate ratio in the 250ml bottles has to be cut or mix and filled with distilled water prior to use.

    Instruction:

    1- Dry Soil Removal:
1a- Vacuum off foreign soiling with help of nylon HairBrush-2, by brushing along the lay of hair.

2- Wet Soil Sanitizing & Removal:
2a- Apply CleanHair-5.5, and use HairBrush-2 to brush along the lay of hair in one direction and Towel-TC extract until it shows clean. Continue with rinsing . . .

    3- Rinse:
3a- Apply RinseHair-4.0 and use HairBrush-2 to brush along the lay of hair in one direction and Towel-TC extract to a squeaky clean free of suds. Continue with hydrating . . .

    4- Hydrating:
4a- Apply Hydrator-3.3 directly onto the base of the hair with the help of HairBrush-2 or a comb to part it. Application may be by direct spraying or indirect transferring to the FoamBrush-3 for better control.
4b- The hide is saturated until a little moisture ooze out when press with fingers.
4c- An option is to let Hydrator-3.3 do an extra relaxing of the hide fibrous structure. Evaporation control with a plastic sheet covering may also be an option. Dwelling can be performed from 4hrs to 72hrs depending on the desired end result. However, the moisture content has to be inspected daily from complete drying out prior to Fatliquor-5.0 application, otherwise it has to be top-up for continuous dwell.
4d- When the hide is still damp to the touch or about 25% total moisture content reading from a moisture meter, Fatliquor-5.0 application commence . . .

    5- Fatliquoring:
    5a- Apply Fatliquor-5.0 as 4a above.
5b- Saturate until a little moisture ooze out when press with fingers.
5c- Allow natural water evaporation to take place, leaving behind the essential fat and oil.
5d- Depending of pre-existing dryness additional application may be desirous.
5e- A leather moisture meter may be used to read its moisture content when dry, and an average 14% of fat and oil content will contribute to the tensile strength of the hide from rip or tear.

    6- Rinsing:
6a- Any sticky residue from Fatliquor-5.0 is rinse off with Hydrator-3.3 to reduce soiling attraction or improve appearance.
6b- Spray Hydrator-3.3, brush with HairBrush-2 and wipe off with Towel-TC until towel shows clean.

    7- Drying:
7a- Let to slow natural drying for extra hide suppleness.
7b- The rip or tear location is attended to by stretching it to close-up tight while the hide is in the drying stage.

    8- Repairs:
8a- Rip or tear repairs begins by cutting out from a paper template with the center line drawn to indicate the actual positioning when the Patch-4S is inserted into position ready for Bond-3D.
8b- Apply Bond-3D to the lower side of the rip, so that the upper tear overlaps from the top of the repair seamlessly. Let it dry and firm up for better control for alignment prior to bonding the upper rip.
8c- The repair has to be hold in place until the bond dries, otherwise it may move out of place and when dried will be tough to make any alignment adjustment.

    9- Non-Stick, Rub-Resistant Protection:
9a- Shake well, mist spray Protector-S+ evenly and brush with HairBrush-2 on the lay of hair.
9b- When dry thereafter groom again with HairBrush-2 or a slick comb for best appearance and it is ready for use.
