    Default Pigmented (Mono-Tone) - Dye Stain - Plastic gel dye soaked into the white leather.

    Roger,
    My husband placed a red plastic gel hand on our couch for Halloween.
    The dye soaked into the white leather.
    What do you recommend?
    Prep 7.7 and topcoat?
    Which topcoat...matte, satin or gloss?
    Would appreciate any advice.
    Thank you,
    Nancy

    >>> Prep 7.7

    Prep-7.7 is used to remove almost all dye-stain.
    To avoid any physical agitation, the Prep-7.7 is applied and a stretchable paper towel is place on top skin tight without any airspace so that the suspended dyestuff will be absorbed by the paper instead of still lying on the leather surface. Dwelling may take up to 72 hours with periodic topping up of the Prep-7.7 onto the paper towel to keep it saturated. Paper may be changed if the stain is obvious and stains from the leather are not fully released. Depending on the condition (topcoat intact and not wear off) of the finishes the dwelling may be extended for another 72 hours. Otherwise decision is to hasten the process by adding a bleaching booster (Bleach-9.9) to the Prep-7.7 for a shorter dwell. When Bleach-9.9 is used, Acidifier-2.0 need to be used to pH balance the high alkalinity to return the leather to a healthy squeaky feel.

    >>> Which topcoat...matte, satin or gloss?

    From picture the luster level is usually satin closer to matte that will match. Try out satin and if it is too shiny, matte is added to it to adjust the luster level.

    Leather Doctor® Kit-Sa7.di, semi-aniline or micro-pigmented leather dye and ink stain removal kit is an innovative concept of removing blue jeans dye and ink stains featuring a “reverse transfer” technique utilizing a paper towel over the dwelling Prep-7.7 for micro-pigmented, antiquing and two-tone leathers that normally has a satin luster effect. The micro-pigmented and fashion effect varieties have a more delicate finish and is easily removed during stain removal and color refinishing is the norm on most wear areas. Prep-7.7 works by penetrating, lubricating and suspending the stains on dwell time and the paper towel reverse absorb the stain instantaneously from the leather. Prior failed attempt with set-in stains may require the help of Bleach-9.9 as booster to the Prep-7.7 to remove the residual stains. Remove sticky residue with Clean-3.8, rinsed with Rinse-3.0 and neutralized with Acidifier-2.0 when Bleach-9.9 is being used. Hydrator-3.3 relaxes stiff leathers and eliminates surface tension prior to fatliquor replenishing. Fatliquor-5.0 rejuvenates the leather structure with softness and suppleness when dry. MicroTop-54S is an option for renewing the finish from friction wear. 6. Apply a soak out paper towel with Acidifier-2.0 over the area until dry to strengthen the finish prior to topcoat application.
    7. When test after 72 hours shows poor response, Bleach-9.9 may be used to boost the Prep-7.7.

    1. A mixing ratio guide by weight is 1 part Bleach-9.9: 2 parts Prep-7.7: 2 parts Hot water.
