Shearling Nappalan – What is the best product to condition it?

Leather Structure Conditioning:
To condition the thickness of the leather to increase suppleness with softness and tensile strength originally fatliquor is used completely soak in a drum. Replenishing of the originally fatliquor is done with non-immersion application with Fatliquor-5.0. Fatliquor-5.0 is an ionic negative (-ve) charged fat and oil that hydrogen bonds with the leather ionic positive (+ve) protein fiber unlike other stuffing oils that clogs the breathing inter-fibrillary spaces that suffocates the leather natural transpiration and produces the darkening effect. When leather coat does not breathe naturally perspiration stays and we have a sweaty feeling. Stuffing oils when applied stuffs in will also leaks out. Fatliquor-5.0 has a pH value of 5.0, the fat plumps the leather with fullness and the oil lubricates the leather with smoothness thus creases and wrinkles is minimized especially around the elbows. The tear strength of the leather depends very much on the Fatliquor-5.0. Average tear strength is about 2000psi; below 1800psi the leather is prone to weakness from stress especially from the shoulder and stitching joints. Industrial working leathers will need an average 6000psi, and all depends on the ionic charged fatliquor. In practice Hydrator-3.3 is used to relax and stretch out the unnatural creases and wrinkles, ionic charged the leather protein fiber ionic more positive (+ve) prior to replenishing with the ionic negative (-ve) Fatliquor-5.0. Surface residue if any is dispersed again with Hydrator-3.3 to ensure no sticky residue that will attract soiling. It is logically to clean the leather or any soiling first prior to rejuvenate it. General cleaning is performed with Clean-3.8 > Rinse-3.0.

Leather Surface Conditioning:
Surface conditioning reduces surface sticky soiling and imparts a rub-resistant protection to reduce frictions rubs, scuff and abrasion. Nappalan shearling leather is having the suede side finished and they are easily scuffed or abraded then the stronger grain side of smooth leather. The lighter trim is the grain side leather and will withstand more wear than the panel nappalan smooth leather created over a more open and loose suede. Protector-B is the scentless version and Protector-B+ is the leather-cented version of choice.

Unlike conditioning oils that darkens suede, fatliquor seasons the suede to a richer tone that helps reduce the ingress of liquid stains and making soiling removal easier where the fibers is full of fat and oil. Maintenance cleaning before soiling build up on body contact areas is done with Clean-3.8 and Rinse-3.0 respectively. Protector-B (the leather-scented version is Protector-B+) imparts a non-stick rub-resistant buttery-feel that shields the effect of sticky soiling, keeping a high level of appearance for a longer period of time and reduces scuffing from friction rubs. The wool face is clean, sanitize with odor control and rinse with CleanWool-5.5 and RinseWool-4.0 respectively. Protector-S imparts a silky feel to the wool.
