How to Perform a Safe Stain Removal on this Napa Leather?
How to clean leather purse?
The Cleaning procedure is the same as if these are cushion or sofa.
For leather fashion it is always good to know the brand!
A] First the Leather Finishes Identification.
I believe this is highly absorbent leathers known as “Napa” finish.
Napa finish is the pigmented leather type that is most absorbent.
It’s different from the micro-pigment leather type or semi-aniline.
Thus three grades of pigmented finish in terms of luxury, breathability and transpiration.
Absorbent Napa - High
Semi-absorbent Micro-Pigment – Medium
Non-absorbent standard Pigment - Low
Matching Products:
Napa Leathers – Use napaColor84 > napaTop78S (satin or G for gloss).
Micro-Pigment – Use semiColor54 > semiTop72M (matte or G for gloss).
Non-Absorbent Pigment Use pigColor64 > pigTop56M (matte or G for gloss).
B] Second is the Stain Identification.
Picture #3 looks like these are food stains – carbohydrates or could be some sort of white solvent based stains.
Starchy dried-up stains could be gently removed with a nubuckBrush2 without scratching the leather finish.
If it is some brittle oil-based stains – hydrate the area with hydrator3.3 and stretch the leather – the brittle solvent based stains will ripple free from the stretch leather surface.
Picture #4 looks like carbon or oil based stains that darken the color finish.
Apply d’Oil4.4 and let it dwell 15 to 30 min. and roll the grease stain away.
It could be dye transfer from clothing too – similar removal technique as above.
If it is carbon than leatherEraser4 is to be used first before any liquid solution is applied.
These napa leathers finishing is more delicate, so treat it with extra care.
Always prepare to do a color touch up if spotting removes these delicate finishes and you know the right type to use.
C] Prep for Cleaning
Stuff the purse full with light clean foam fillers or clean paper (for easy handling too and keep it in shape).
D] General Restoration Cleaning
Use superClean4.9 > clean3.8 > rinse3.0 with leatherBrush1 and extract with white absorbent paper rag (washable).
E] Softening and Strengthening the Leather Structure
Use fatliquor5.0 – airbrush evenly throughout, stretch to reduce creases or wrinkles and leave for slow drying.
F] Non-stick buttery-feel conditioning with the classic leather scent.
