A small variant of the leather patch method is to sew rather than glue the patch into place, and use a fancy stitch pattern. A saddler or other leather expert will best deal with your leather needs. It's a good idea to search online if you want to find an expert who can design and manufacture leather vests, jackets, coats or pants for you.
