Hello
I have a Cassinna Le Corbusier leather sofa/chairs (as pictured). I have been diligent in constantly turning the cushions over the years but the indentations from the chrome frame appear on both sides of the cushions. The problem is just indentations and not marking/staining. Is there anything I can do to remove the indentations?
Thanks

The leather indentation could be rectified by hydrating and fatliquoring. Hydrating is to relax the leather tension back to original and fatliquoring is to impart softness, suppleness with strength. This is done easier from the reverse suede side if it is accessible from opening the zip. The foam may be inspected for similar indentation too.

I believe these are “Semi-Aniline” leathers.

The recommended kit is Kit SA3

■ Semi-Aniline Leather Rejuvenating System
Leather rejuvenating system with hydrating and fatliquoring is the process of restoring the original fatliquor diminished through aging and cleaning to return to its characteristic suppleness. Leathers, when wet and then dry again, have the tendency for the fibrils to becomes stick together - known as the Van der Waals or London force phenomenon. This results in stiffness and when flexed, may lead to premature cracks, as often seen on neglected leathers. Hydrating for semi-aniline leathers is the preconditioning of the leather structure prior to fatliquoring with its multi-faceted functions as: relaxes dried, stiff, shrunk, crease and wrinkle leathers; facilitating colloidal water movement within the leather structure during the wicking process to move soiling particulates to the surface; reactivating the dormant dyestuff to resurface thus reducing the contrast between damaged finishes and the leather crust; reducing the interfacial tension to eliminate blotchiness when dry especially absorbent leathers; and charging the leather protein fibers below its iso-electric point positive to hydrogen-bond with the ionic negative charged Fatliquor-5.0 for effective fatliquoring. Fatliquor is the life-blood of leathers, when done periodically in conjunction with hydrating will perpetually keeps leather with softness, suppleness and strength.
Instructions
1st Phase Hydrating:
The main objective is to work out an even appearance prior to fatliquoring.
1] Apply Hydrator-3.3 with foam brushing to evenly hydrate the leather with even dampness.
2] Semi-absorbent panel is best applied through a layer of paper towel acting as reservoir, to allow a slow seep through.
3] The entire leather is thereafter wrapped with clear plastic sheet, to control evaporation for an overnight dwell.
4] A visual and hand massage inspection are to ensure thorough hydrating, with structure softness to work out unwanted creases and winkles
2nd Phase Fatliquoring:
This is the leather rejuvenating process to soften the leather when dry with suppleness, reduces creases and prevents cracking.
1] Spray Fatliquor-5.0, spread with foam brush for an even appearance without the blotchiness and let dry naturally.
2] Repeat application in between drying until it’s saturated.
3] The fully saturated leather is left for slow natural drying for extra softness.
4] Dry brush wicks up residue and inspect for satisfaction.

Leather Doctor® Kit SA3 : Semi-Aniline Leather Standard Care Kit

Semi-aniline leather standard care Kit-SA3 is design for semi-aniline leathers; primarily to take care of the leather finishes appearances through stain removal, cleaning and protection. Includes the leather structural care of relaxing and softening to eliminate unwanted creases or stiffness. This leather rejuvenating system helps restore suppleness to the leather thus prevents premature aging from stiffness that leads to eventual cracks.
Semi-aniline leathers are leathers that do not make the grade to the aniline leather due to too many blemishes as the dye through transparent dyestuff allows these too many natural defects to show through. To improve the appearance a micro-pigment opaque colorcoat is fine spray over for better appearance with a matching topcoat; to ensure more even color consistency and protection against spills and stains. Thus semi-aniline leathers have better breathability as compared to the standard pigmented leathers. A water droplet testing with a little rubbing usually darkens the leather to confirm its breathability quality for extra seating comfort as compared to completely sealed non-breathable pigment leathers. An easy identification is the fine opaque monotone look with a colored reverse suede side.

■ Semi-Aniline Leather Dye Transfer Stain Removal System
Remove dye stains through the penetrating, lubricating, and suspending power of Prep-7.7 on semi-aniline leathers from dye transfer including blue jeans, leather goods and newsprint. It is recommended that the finish is refreshed with Topcoat-72 to protect the colorcoat thereafter.
Instructions
If the stain is a failed attempt from other products, it’s recommended to use tap water for a wet finger test for tackiness. If it is, acidifying it with Acidifier-2.0 found in Kit SA3.t or as an add-on to return the leather to a squeaky feel is highly recommended prior to Prep-7.7 application. Note that failed attempt may set the stains more difficult to remove and may have already weakens the existing finishes as well.
1st Phase Stain Removal:
1] Apply Prep-7.7 to the stain, horsehair Brush-1 agitate and towel extract until it shows clean.
2] Reapply to the remaining stain and let dwell for 10 to 30 minutes or overnight, Brush-1 agitate and towel extract until it shows clean.
3] Remaining sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 with Brush-1 agitation into creases and seams and towel extract until it shows clean.
4] This removal system completes with Rinse-3.0 spray and towel extract to a squeaky feel.
5] Quick dry it to inspect, repeat as necessary otherwise proceed to hydrating.
2nd Phase Hydrating:
The highlight of this hydrating process is to help further removed residual stains from the absorbent leather.
1] Spray Hydrator-3.3, spread with foam brush to hydrate the entire thickness of the leather.
2] Advance technique uses absorbent tissue paper to lay over the entire surface, soak through tight free of air spaces as an extension of the surface.
3] This technique allows the wicks up stain to be caught through by the tissue paper when it’s perfectly dry.
4] The dried surface is further dry clean with Brush-1 and/or Eraser-4 to remove wicks up soiling particulates for inspection.
5] Repeat as necessary or proceed to fatliquoring.
3rd Phase Fatliquoring:
This is the leather rejuvenating process to soften the leather when dry with suppleness, reduces creases and prevents cracking.
1] Spray Fatliquor-5.0, spread with foam brush for an even appearance without the blotchiness and let natural dry.
2] Repeat application in between drying until it’s saturated.
3] The fully saturated leather is left for slow natural drying for extra softness.
4] Dry brush wicks up residue and inspect for satisfaction.
4th Phase Topcoat Option:
Topcoat is only practical when the surface is free from foreign contamination to refresh protection to the colorcoat.
1] A matching Topcoat-72 gloss, satin or matte is applied by a lint-free towel.
2] A dry sanding using 1500 sanding grit will rectify unwanted streaks if any, otherwise fine airbrush it.
5th Phase Non-stick Rub Resistant Protection:
This natural butter-feel protection helps reduces finishes wear with a classic leather scent.
1] Apply Leather Scent-B after shaking well, spread with lint free towel and is ready for use when dry.

■ Semi-Aniline Leather Ballpoint Ink Stain Removal System
Ballpoint ink removal on semi-aniline leathers would depend on the depth of the ink penetration, the longer it stays the deeper it penetrates. When Prep-7.7 pools on the surface during the entire stain suspending process, it is most likely that the surface stain will be completely removed. If it darkens and penetrates, the suspended stain is most likely be reabsorbed by the leather which will require the hydrating step to help wicks the fugitives dyes. Removing of penetrated stains may result in the need to have the color and top coat refinished with Pigment Micro-54 follows with Topcoat-72 when not done cautiously.
(A) 1st Phase Surface Stain Removal:
1] Apply Prep-7.7 to the stain and let dwell 10 to 30 minutes, if it pools on the surface and starts to run; towel extract until it shows clean.
2] Reapply and let dwell 4 hours or longer overnight for deeper stain, towel extract thereafter until it shows clean.
3] Remaining sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 with Brush-1 agitation and towel extract until it shows clean.
4] This removal system completes with Rinse-3.0 spray and towel extract to a squeaky feel.
5] Quick dry it to inspect, repeat as necessary otherwise proceed to Leather Scent-B protection.
or
(B) 1st Phase Penetrated Stain Removal:
1] Apply Prep-7.7 to the stain and let dwell 10 to 30 minutes; if it penetrates with darken effects, towel blot until towel shows clean.
2] Remaining sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 and towel blot until it shows clean.
3] While it is still damp with darkening effect move to hydrating it.
2nd Phase Hydrating to Disperse and Wicks Fugitive Dyes:
This is a continuous process to hydrate the leather structure entirely to further help removes the residual stains, redistributing it and causing it to wicks up in the drying process.
1] Spray Hydrator-3.3, spread with foam brush to hydrate the entire thickness of the leather darkening it evenly.
2] Advance technique uses absorbent tissue paper to lay over the entire surface, soak through tight free of air spaces as an extension of the surface.
3] This technique allows the wicks up stain to be caught through by the tissue paper when it’s perfectly dry.
4] Inspect for satisfaction and proceed to fatliquoring, otherwise repeat as necessary.
3rd Phase Fatliquoring:
This is the leather rejuvenating process to soften the leather when dry with suppleness, reduces creases and prevents cracking.
1] Spray Fatliquor-5.0, spread with foam brush for an even appearance without the blotchiness and let dry naturally.

This restorative cleaning is similarly achieved by the strength of the Prep-7.7 to effectively suspense tough soiling with the help of the detailing horsehair Brush-1. Worn or deteriorated finishes may be removed during this restorative cleaning process that may require custom color refinishing with Pigment Micro-54 and matching gloss, satin or matte luster Topcoat-72.
Instructions
It is recommended to use tap water for a wet finger test for tackiness or sliminess. If it is, acidifying it with Acidifier-2.0 found in Kit SA3.t or as an add-on to return the leather to a squeaky feel is highly recommended prior to Prep-7.7 application.
1st Phase Restorative Cleaning:
1] Apply Prep-7.7 and agitate with horsehair Brush-1 to a panel at a time, thereafter towel extract until it shows clean.
2] Reapply to residual soil areas especially creases and let dwell 10 to 30 minutes or overnight for complete soil suspension, thereafter towel extract until it shows clean.
3] Sticky residue is removed by Cleaner-3.8 with gentle brush agitation and extract until it shows clean.
4] This restorative cleaning system ends with Rinse-3.0 spray and towel extract to a squeaky clean.
5] Let dry and inspect for satisfaction, repeat as necessary otherwise proceed to hydrating.
2nd Phase Hydrating:
The highlight of this process is to reduce interfacial tension to achieve an even darkening appearance prior to fatliquoring. Unwanted creases and wrinkles are work out during this process by stretching it crosswise with sufficient dwelling for effective structural relaxing.
1] Spray Hydrator-3.3, spread with foam brush for an even darkening effect without blotchiness ready for immediate fatliquoring.
3rd Phase Fatliquoring:
This is the leather rejuvenating process to soften the leather when dry with suppleness, reduces creases and prevents cracking.
