When pigmented leathers shows cracks as seen from picture #3 and distorted stretching as seen in picture #5. It is s sign of leather structure dryness that leads to stiffness and when flexed during usage leads to cracks. Pictures #2 shows numerous finishes cracks and these are where non leather-safe solutions when used during the life-span of the leather up till now may have cause the leather to weakens that eventually leads to structural cracks after the surface refinishing without restoring the leather structure back to its original health.

The existing leather condition is to be treated as if this is “Semi-Aniline” leather where the leather has become absorbent.

Restoration is 2 phases both for the structural and the finishes.

The general structure of processes should entail the followings:

A] Restorative Cleaning:
The objective is to rid of all foreign contamination.
1] Apply Prep-7.7, agitate with horsehair Brush-1 and towel extract until it shows clean.
2] Reapply Prep-7.7, brush agitate and let an overnight dwell.
3] Spray Cleaner-3.8, brush agitate to remove the sticky residue and towel extract until it shows clean.
4] Spray Rinse-3.0, brush into especially the cracks and creases and towel extract until it shows clean.

B] Hydrating:
The objective is to plumb up the leather to get rid of the distortion for easy wet sanding off the deteriorated finishes.
1] Spray sufficiently with Hydrator-3.3 to relax the stretching distortion by plastic wrapped-up for an overnight dwell.

C] Wet Sanding:
The objective is to remove the deteriorated finishes ranges from 95% to 15% while the leather is stronger and the finishes become weaker for easy removal without hurting the leather crust.
1] Spray Rinse-3.0 and run an 800 – 1000 sanding grit on an oscillating low speed control sander (low means that you can hand hold to stop the disc movement with your hand) with continuous towel extracting.

D] Fatliquoring:
The objective is to regain softness, suppleness and strength when leather is dry.
1] Use a foam brush to spread Fatliquor-5.0 to all the darkening areas.
2] Continue to apply in between drying until fully saturated.
3] Leave to slow natural dry for extra softness.

E] Dry Preparation:
1] Dry sanding for extra smoothness with 1200 – 1500 sanding grit.

F] Structural Repairs:
1] Impregnator-26 is used to seal weak over-stretch cushions for extra strength.

G] Adhesion Coating:
1] Use Adhesor-73 as an adhesion promoter for peel-free refinishing – by padding

H] Custom Color Coating with Micro Pigment-54:
1] Thickener-48 is to be used as a flow controller and color stabilizer during spraying.

I] Top Coating:
1] A choice of satin or matte to match existing luster – note that satin is stronger than matte and gloss is stronger than satin.

J] Non-Stick Rub Resistant Protection:
1] Use Leather Scent-B.
