Roger,

This client has a 20 year old set of aniline leather.

The loveseat has many spots across the top back.

Her now deseased cat used to sleep up there (only on the loveseat).

Not sure what the spots are exactly, other than we know they came out of the cat, not sure what orifice?

The matching sofa looks fine other that both pieces are faded.

Can the spots be cleaned up?

And how would you proceed with spot cleaning , cleaning and restoring?

Do they have to be dyed?

Besides spots and stains removal, it is wise to sanitize it for health reason too.

And since it is 20 years old and they are both faded; besides this loveseat will reveal more scratches once the stain is removed.

Therefore I recommend to proceeds with color refinishing, restoring these leathers to a new like condition with many more years of useful services.

Remind your client that what he pays is what he gets by showing them your cleaning and restoration proposal outlined as follows:

1. Dry Soil Removal - use a combination of anilineEraser4™, leatherBrush1™, nubuckBrush2™, Air-Gun and Vacuuming.

2. Protein Stain Removal - use d’Protein11.0™.

3. Urea and Alkaline Stain Neutralization - use d’Urine2.2™

4. Prep Cleaning - use d’Ink7.7™ > clean3.8™ > rinse3.0™.

5. Hydrating Leather Structure (if it’s semi-absorbent) - use relaxer3.3™.

6. Softening & Strengthening Leather Structure (follows in sequence after hydrating) - use fatliquor5.0™

7. Sanitize with Bactericide - use d’Bacteria3.7™.

8. Remove Residual Yellowed Oxidized Stains - use d’Yellow6.7™.

9. Remove Deteriorated Finishes - use 1000, 1200 or 1500 grit sanding.

10. Surface Repair - use leatherBond3D™ &/or leatherFill90™.

11. Adhesion Coating - use adhesion73™.

12. Color Coating - use semiColor74™ with thickener48™ (flow controller).

13. Top Coating - use semiTop57M™.

14. Non-Stick Feel Conditioner - use leatherScent’B™.

note:

This aniline leather has a top coating and unless it is completely stripped anilineDye21™ transparent dye is not recommended.

Instead semiColor74™ with its matching matte top coat semiTop57M™ is recommended instead.

The general product description and instruction can be found in the “Leather Products” category.

However, we still can go into details of what’s, why’s and when’s of any of the above proposal or option.

What do you think?
