Ballpoint Ink Removal Products Pros and Cons

A1]
d’Marker2.2 is design for those leather that has a strong non-absorbent pigment finish or no finish at all.
Example are most Auto pigmented leathers, most non-absorbent furnishing pigmented finish and most sportswear non-absorbent pigmented finish garment.
Or it’s for naked leathers like “Vachetta” – the naked vegetable-tanned leathers, including nubuck and suede as well.
On these selected leather types, there is no fear of pigment finish removal.
This is a fast action product that only requires rinse3.0 to remove remaining residue.
However, it has to be tested in a hidden area to confirm the fast removal action without surface finish damages.

B2]
d’Ink7.7 is a slow penetrating, lubricating and suspending ballpoint ink removal that takes a minimum of 30 minutes to effectively remove the ballpoint ink.
Penetrated dye residues can be effectively removed with an overnight dwelling.
It is a safer choice when you have the patience and time to safely remove the ink without much affecting the pigment finish.
The sticky residue has to be removed by using clean3.8 > rinse3.0.
On absorbent napa leathers where the finish is weaker, test has to be conducted prior to application.
On semi-aniline or napa leathers it is recommended to re-protect the color with their respective topcoat.

Bleaching Pros and Cons

D3]
bleach10.3 is used for bleaching the dye component of the Greasy Ballpoint Ink.
It is only effective when the greasy component is first removed, otherwise the dyes is surrounded by the grease where this water-based cream bleach can’t penetrate to effectively bleach it.
Bleach only affects the dyes and not the pigment, so the leather finish pigment remains unbleached.
Care has to be taken to ensure prior to application that the stain area remains non-absorbent.
With a high alkaline pH value of 10.3, should not be in direct contact with the leather crust as it breaks the hydrogen-bonding of the leather constituents.
Simply said at this pH value of 10.3 it will denature the leather once it penetrate through the pigment finish, thus it is to be applied as a thick cream only precisely onto the stain only.
It is effective when the conditions are right.
Thereafter this high alkalinity has to be neutralized with a low pH acidifier2.0.

E4]
d’Tarnish1.3 is milder bleach that is not as harsh as bleach10.3 but works very slowly.
There is also no fear if the liquid penetrates the leather.
However, you have to be careful if the leather is aniline dyed as all dyes will be bleached to a degree to, except for pigment colors.

Cleaning Product

G5]
clean3.8 always follows to remove remaining residues.

Rinsing Product

H6]
rinse3.0 ensures that the leather returns to a healthy squeaky clean to restore the leather chemistry integrity.

Preventive Maintenance Product

I7]
leatherScent’B not only impart the unforgettable classic leather scent that charms.
It is also a non-stick buttery-feel conditioner that lubricates the leather like a wax paper to ward-off sticky soiling and prevent the dispersion of the nasty ballpoint ink in the future.
