Fixing polished nubuck

Hello all,

I took my favourite oiled nubuck boots to have the heel repaired and the cobbler took it upon himself to polish them for some reason. Needless to say the finish ruined. They were formerly soft and matte with a little grain and now they're shined in some parts with increased cracking and look very dried out. After some googling I buffed them with sandpaper which has taken down the shine a bit (a lot of the polish came off on my hands) but they still look cracked and wrinkly. I will probably order some nubuck conditioner but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of anything else that could be done.

Sounds like you have “Oil-Pull-up Nubuck”.

Tips:

1- To remove polish you need Stripper-2.3

2- Rejuvenating with Hydrator-3.3

will return nubuck back to its original suppleness, minus looking “cracked and wrinkly.”

Used this recently on a pair of Wolverine 1000 miles boots which are made of Horween Chromexel oil pull-up leather. After thoroughly cleaning and conditioning the boots I gave EffectOil a try.
Amazing results! These boots are only 8 months old, but I wanted to see if there would be any improvement and I'm happy to say there was a substantial improvement in the finish and look of the leather as well as a more prominent pull-up effect.

A non-stick, rub-resistant protection is with Protector-B+
